Touch The Firetrucks! A special event this Saturday, August 13, from 10 am to 2 pm. See a Fire Engine and a Ladder Truck with other emergency vehicles and visit with the Dallas Fire Department first responders on the Plaza in front of the Aquarium. Join the Aquarium as a new member this weekend and get a free Stingray plush. First responder families, show an ID and get free Stingray food. Come have fun before the kids go back to school!

Dallas Park and Recreation Department has some amazing things happening across the system, check out the Children's Aquarium Dallas at Fair Park this weekend.

First responder families get free stingray food this weekend. It’s our way of saying thank you for your work. Remember to stop by on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm to Touch The Firetrucks from the Dallas Fire Department. Free parking in front of the Aquarium.

This has been exciting to see this transformation happen. When I first joined the board, I walked into a TON of community meetings regarding the new Community Park. I expressed my vision to see a trail around the park and wanted to sacrifice the community park for that perimeter trail with smaller "pocket parks" around the park. (for the record, I'm thankful we didn't have to sacrifice anything!) During Fair Park First's Master Plan Update, they incorporated some "pocket parks" but the Community Park was already a commitment that was made and the idea of the trail was not attainable at this time.....hopefully in the future.....fast forward a year.....after a host of challenges just to connect the Sante Fe Trail to East Dallas trails.....the Fair Park Perimeter Trail was born. The community and Fair Park WON BIG.....a Community Park AND a New Trail around the entire park. Can't wait to see these improvements start to take shape. This is going to be GREAT.

It took a long time for me to get over feeling queasy when Dallas gave a little-known nonprofit the keys to our crown jewel, Fair Park, and its trove of treasured, but disintegrating, art deco buildings.

Thank you to the incredible Park staff for Making this tree planting a success. Thank you Chris McMasters for the great plan, Shenequa Crockett for bringing so many volunteers and Ranger Eric Wettengel for the incredible how to plant a tree demo. The tree planting in Lakeland hills park and Lastly So much pride in seeing community members planting trees in their park!

Alright Dixon Circle, one of the first things I noticed when I was appointed to serve everyone on the Dallas Park and Recreation Department was the lack of a playground at Willie Mae Butler Park. I moved around some funding and we have 3 options for playgrounds for the community kids to choose from. Stop by the Larry Johnson Recreation Center and cast your support for the playground of your choice. I asked the designers to bring something unique and fun for the kids, I hope you all agree that any one of these playgrounds would be great! Let your voices be heard, I hope y'all are as excited as I am to see this new playground! (Please share and tag folks so people can stop by and cast their support)
