The Emerald Coast Warriors GoFundMe is officially live!

We have built this program from nothing more than an idea: give disabled veterans along the Emerald Coast a team, a community, and somewhere they can belong after military service.

Little by little, it is coming together. We now have 27 veterans ready to play. We have built the foundation, created the team’s identity, and handled much of the work behind the scenes. Now we need help getting everyone on the ice.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help cover ice time, equipment, uniforms, insurance, registration, and other startup costs.

If you believe in what we are trying to accomplish, please consider donating. If you cannot donate, that is perfectly okay. Sharing this post may help it reach someone who can. Every donation and every share moves us one step closer to our first practice.

Let’s get these veterans on the ice.

Good afternoon! After careful consideration, we’re proud to announce that the Pensacola Warriors are becoming the Emerald Coast Warriors!
Our new identity reflects the history and character of Pensacola and the Emerald Coast, with a pirate-inspired theme rooted in the region’s past. We’ll also be taking the ice in a classic Hartford Whalers-inspired color scheme, featuring green, blue, and white.
This direction gives our organization a distinct identity of its own while still representing the entire Emerald Coast veteran community.
The name and colors may be changing, but our mission remains the same: bringing disabled veterans together through hockey, brotherhood, and purpose.
Welcome aboard the Emerald Coast Warriors. 🏴‍☠️🏒

I had a productive meeting today with a former member of the Central Illinois Warriors. We discussed a lot of ideas, including using the name Emerald Coast Warriors. It is an idea I considered before ultimately choosing Pensacola Warriors, but I think it may better represent the larger area we hope to serve.
Every player’s jersey would feature their military branch, either on the chest or shoulder. Take a look at these jersey concepts and tell me what you honestly think. Pensacola or Emerald Coast? Which jersey design do you prefer? You will not hurt my feelings. I have created about 100 versions at this point, so I clearly enjoy making this harder than it needs to be.
We are still about a year away from taking the ice if everything goes according to plan, but we can start building now. Let’s begin recruiting veterans, both men and women, and start fundraising. My initial goal is 20 to 25 players, enough for a full roster, two goalies, and several alternates.
If we can get 15 to 20 interested people together now, we can begin holding online meetings to discuss policies, fundraising, team structure, and future plans. This will be our program, so I want everyone to have a voice in shaping it.
Hockey is fun, but this is about much more than hockey. I retired two and a half years ago, and the transition was difficult. Veterans deal with things that other people may not always understand. My hope is that this program becomes a place where we compete, laugh, support one another, and make sure nobody has to face those struggles alone.
If you are interested, or know a veteran who might be, invite them to the group and have them reach out.

Hey everyone! Long time no talk. I wanted to give you all an update on where things stand.

It's been a rough few months for me personally with a couple of deaths in the family and life just being... life. But there's some good news. We finally got the paperwork back from the State of Florida, so we can start moving things forward.

Right now, I'm checking on the status of the proposed rink in Pace. If it gets built, I think we're in great shape. If not, we'll figure something out. Our mission has always been bigger than just hockey.

Our mission isn't hockey. Hockey is the vehicle. Veterans are the mission.

I have a big vision for what the Pensacola Warriors can become, but I also know this isn't my team. It's our team. I'm willing to do everything I can to help make this dream a reality, even if we have to start small and build it one step at a time.

This organization isn't just about playing and winning hockey games. It's about giving veterans a place to belong, building friendships, serving our community, and making sure no one has to go through life alone.

So, when the time comes, let's leave the personal and public politics at the door. We're veterans. We've all served something bigger than ourselves before. Let's use that experience to build something special together.

I appreciate all of you, and I'll keep everyone updated as I learn more about the rink.

With heavy hearts, the Pensacola Warriors extend our condolences on the passing of Sean O’Rourke. We stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and the Pittsburgh Warriors during this difficult time.

With a heavy heart, we mourn the passing of Sean O’Rourke. Sean was a fierce competitor and an even better friend—on and off the ice. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and brought that same dedication, grit, and brotherhood to every shift. Sean played for the Pittsburgh Warriors, and our hearts are with the Warriors family during this incredibly difficult time. Fair winds and following seas, brother. 🕊️
