Residents should be aware of any changes to lighting in their front porches or landscape lights. If the light is out, do not assume it has gone out and then leave it alone until the weekend. Residents should check the light to make sure it was not unscrewed. Suspects are unscrewing porch or landscape lights, and if they see that the light has not been changed, they assume the owner is not home and that is when they hit. More importantly, we should look out for our neighbors’ lights as well and alert them. Please call 9-1-1 immediately if you see someone you don't know tampering with lights in your neighborhood.

Redistricting 2011: LH on the chopping block

Neighbors, it's time to become informed on the topic of redistricting. If you have an opinion and you would ike your
voice to be heard, speak up before the end of the day tomorrow (Wednesday).

The city's redistricting process has the potential to threaten the unified voice of Lake Highlands at City Hall, as one plan splits the LH community into three districts.

Neighbor found a nice yellow Lab, today at the intersection of Highedge and Shadydale - a little south of LHE. He is well-behaved and has a black "Top Paw" Collar, but tags are ripped off. A little age showing in his coat, right ear has an old scar. We do not have a place to keep him, but right now he is in our house. Call Tim's cell: 214/769-1958 or mine: 214/437-9908. Another dog found: She is a lab-pit bull mix with no collar or tags. We live near the intersection of White Rock Trail and Lanshire. She is very sweet. We would love to find her family. She clearly loves kids!

Burglary 9216 Highridge Drive. Good Morning, my home was burglarized between 11 A.M. - 4 P.M. yesterday. Several items were taken. If anyone has any video surveillance of the alley behind Highridge or the front of the house I would greatly appreciate it. My house is between Shadyview and Parkford. Also, if anyone noticed anything suspicious please send me a message. Thank you. I have reported this information to the police.
An older woman driving a white Subaru crossover suv just ran the four way stop at Lakemere and Aldwick. I had five children with me and we were all waiting to cross the street. Thankfully the kids know better than go before someone fully stops or else a child would have undoubtedly been hit by her. If this was you, or a friend or relative who had just left your home, please urge them to use caution and obey traffic laws. Thankfully, today, everyone was safe. In the future that might not be so if more care isn’t taken by that driver.
