Love for Kids was established in 1975 by local Dallas businessman and philanthropist Bill Barrett and CEO of Circle R Ranch, Alan Powdermaker. With the idea of wanting to have a special Christmas Party for children misplaced because of the Vietnam War, their vision created this charity, naming it Love for Kids. Their objective was to show these children what a Texas Christmas was like by taking them to a real country ranch. This holiday event continues today at Circle R Ranch and gives over 1,000 underprivileged children a chance to experience a day at the Ranch, learn life skills and for many, this is the only Christmas toys they will receive. Over the years, Love for Kids has continued to grow and now hosts not only the Holiday Event, but All Kids Count and after school programs for Level 1 school children. They also provide life skill classes for senior citizens in need. Love for Kids has also established a free clothes closet for those in need of benevolent services.
Love for Kids hosts Palette to Palate, their annual fundraiser, to raise the needed funds that are necessary to continue to provide these free events, programs and services in the Dallas, Denton and Collin County areas. Love for Kids has been a 501 © 3 nonprofit organization for 44 years.
