Campaigning is new to me, serving our community is not. I was appointed to the Flower Mound Charter Review Commission in 2016. I have deep roots in Flower Mound.

From 2017-2021 I served on our Planning and Zoning Commission, including a term as Vice Chair. My wife Karen and I moved to Southern Denton County in 1987 and have lived in Flower Mound since 2000. When we first moved here, my mom and dad, older sister, two nephews and a niece, and two of my brothers all lived in Flower Mound. Karen and I raised our four children here. Flower Mound is our home. I

served the Baker’s Branch Homeowners Association as Chair of the Architectural Control Committee, and then on the Board of Directors, including a term as President. From 2010 to 2020, I volunteered extensively with the Boy Scouts of America/Scouts BSA, serving five years as Committee Chair for Troop 451. From 2014 to 2016 I volunteered as a photographer for the Flower Mound High School Marching Band, and I have volunteered with the Summit Club of Flower Mound since 2019. In 2016, I was appointed to the Flower Mound Charter Review Commission. From 2017 to 2021, I served on the Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission, including one term as Vice Chair. These experiences taught me a great deal about the workings of municipal government in Texas, knowledge and experience I will apply as a member of our Town Council.

Question: how did we come to believe that regulating business activities was somehow immoral and unacceptable, while at the same time agreeing that regulating the personal behavior of individuals was perfectly reasonable?

Business actions that negatively impact people are sacrosanct. Individual actions that have almost no impact upon others remain heavily regulated.

How do we reconcile this dissonant stance?

Not long ago, Flower Mound set records for donating blood but the past few years have been lacklustre years for our community’s generosity that way.

We are currently less than 1/3 the way to matching our best record.

We can do better, Flower Mound!

If you have an hour to spare to do a good deed, PLEASE come by the Cross Timbers YMCA and give a pint of life!!!

I have loved our democratic republic. I applauded our American experiment in the notion that those governed should have a say in who governs them.

It made us so different from the nations of Europe, where they believed that “the best people“ should have all the say in governance. In that Old World, Kings and Emperors were above and beyond the law. In our republic, we did away with such absurdity. Once.

I am enough of a republican (‘little ‘r’) to hate the idea of sacrosanct sovereigns.
