Today we're celebrating a miracle at the Dallas Immigration Court: this week our El Salvadoran client and her son were given humanitarian asylum. It was a tough win. Both came here to escape domestic violence in El Salvador, and fortunately, they will never have to return. In exactly one year, they will be able to apply for green cards.

Great news. In the past few weeks our Firm has: (1) won withholding of removal for a young Cameroonian girl facing persecution in her native country on account of her family membership; (2) won cancellation of removal for a Mexican lawful permanent resident of three decades and with two young U.S. citizen daughters; (3) secured the release from ICE detention of a Mexican national with three young U.S. citizen children; (4) won administrative closure for an El Salvadoran man with a young U.S. citizen son with a serious heart ailment; (5) won cancellation of removal for a green card holder from Mexico with a 10 day-old newborn baby.

We believe strongly in second chances. Former clients have said that beating deportation is like a "rebirth." We wish all of our clients the best of luck in starting anew.

Credit goes to our hardworking team of lawyers, paralegals, and assistants.

Amid Steady Deportation, Fear and Worry Multiply Among Immigrants

NY Times: "Administration officials say the deportation numbers — more than 368,000 this fiscal year — are driven by a congressional requirement that more than 30,000 immigrants be detained daily."

Immigrant leaders see a broad impact on their communities, with deportations still separating bread-winning parents from children and unauthorized immigrants from family members here legally.

This week our Firm succeeded in stopping the deportation of a green card holder who's lived here since the age of 14 and is now 30. The immigration judge granted her application for cancellation of removal, waiving a 13 year-old conviction for petty theft. If anyone deserved a second chance, it was her.

Today the Firm succeeded in stopping the deportation of a long-time green card holder with arrests for possession of marijuana. The immigration court was persuaded that his rehabilitation and character outweighed the seriousness of his crimes. He's since been released from ICE detention, and we're excited he'll have the chance to spend the Holidays with his family.
