Southern Border Perspective: Policy, Law Enforcement, Military

The border between the United States and Mexico has been a flash point for years and is a particular issue for border states like Texas where the impacts of the immigrant flow are obvious. This program will feature speakers who have been intimately involved with the situation on the border, from legislation and policy, law enforcement and military perspectives. While this issue is politically charged, we’ll try to have a non-political, non-partisan discussion, exploring facts and solutions rather than assessing blame. The discussion will be moderated by Congressman Self TX 3rd District with panel members Sheriff Jim Skinner,
Collin County Sheriff and Brigadier General Matt Barker, Commander, Joint Task Force Lone Star.

Allen City Council met on Tuesday, April 25.

Allen road renamed "Cuffman Way" in honor of Allen veterans.

South Ferris Drive in downtown Allen has officially been renamed “Cuffman Way,” honoring the lives and sacrifice of two Allen veterans during World Wars I & II.

During World War I, Allen native Robert Cuffman was killed during the battle at Meuse-Argonne, the final battle fought during the war. Years later, Cuffman’s nephew Robert Cuffman Jr. – also an Allen native – enlisted in the armed forces when the second World War began. Robert Jr. was killed in action on Christmas Day at the pivotal Battle of the Bulge.

Robert Cuffman and Robert Cuffman Jr. were both buried at Allen Cemetery.

Global Power Competition

Admiral John Richardson, U.S. Navy (Ret.), US Naval Academy 1982, served as the 31st Chief of Naval Operations from 2015 until his retirement in 2019 and previously served as Director of the Navy’s Nuclear Reactor Program.

Discussed the 2022 National Security Strategy describes the threats to vital U.S. national security interests posed by the “pacing challenge” of China and the “acute threat” of a resurgent Russia. While the National Strategy integrates the traditional elements of national power, it is the military element that underpins the rest, and is the ultimate guarantor of national security.
