Children At Risk North Texas

Children At Risk North Texas CHILDREN AT RISK is a nonprofit organization that drives change for children through research, education and influencing public policy. The focus of CHILDREN AT RISK is to make children’s needs a priority and to ensure ample resources are available for children and their families to thrive.
(2)

In 2008, CHILDREN AT RISK began to expand its efforts to the North Texas region and opened an office in Dallas in 2011 thanks to the generous support of several local foundations. In addition to the numerous high-performing non-profits in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, there was a need for an organization focused on the whole child. CHILDREN AT RISK focuses its efforts where they are needed the most: where a significant number of children are affected, and where we can enhance, but not duplicate the work of others.

Mission: CHILDREN AT RISK serves as a catalyst for change to improve the quality of life for children through strategic research, public policy analysis, education, collaboration and advocacy.

Going Live at 10AM today!

Under today's immigration policies, millions of U.S. children from mixed-status and immigrant families are cut off from the supports they need to learn, grown, and thrive. Texas is home to nearly 1 in 3 New American Children. Our children deserve rational policy solutions, not partisan politics.

Children at Risk is proud to partner with The Rational Middle in the making of their latest Rational Middle: Immigration entry "The Children of Immigrants." Tune in at 10 a.m. to hear from the creators, experts, and supporters behind the episode and to celebrate its premiere on rationalmiddle.com/immigration/

Families need COVID-19 relief! Don't miss our Press Conference going live at 10!

While many of the federal benefits keeping Texas children and their caregivers afloat have expired, the coronavirus crisis continues to keep millions of Texans out of work and struggling to cover their basic needs.

Join CAR and nonprofit leaders from around the state at 10:00 to discuss what continued federal inaction would mean for Texas families, and demand policymakers come together to pass a new COVID-19 relief package that focuses on the needs of families and the systems and providers that enable them to thrive.

Amidst COVID-19, a great number of our Texan families and children are affected by the lockdown, including job loss or salary reduction, school closures, food insecurity, less access to public services and benefits, among other problems. In order to understand what Texan families and children need the most, CHILDREN AT RISK is launching a survey: “How has COVID-19 affected your family?”.

Please help us to understand what your family and children are going through, and allow CHILDREN AT RISK to collect data to speak to decision-makers and drive change #ForChildren statewide.

Children are more vulnerable and isolated than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. Help us keep Texas children safe and healthy by staying in touch with the children you care about.

- Educate children about healthy boundaries and autonomy over their bodies.
- Encourage your child to talk to you if someone ever crosses their boundaries or makes them feel uncomfortable or uneasy.
- Trust in your child if they tell you that someone has made them uncomfortable, and trust in yourself if you suspect child abuse has occurred. All Texans are mandatory reporters!
