Early giving for North Texas Giving Day is open. Shelter advocates met Elena at the door with hygiene supplies, fresh bedding and clothes for her and her son. At Mosaic House there is no cafeteria line. There is a pantry, a refrigerator and a kitchen, and residents cook their own meals, food that tastes like where they come from. For a mother who had every choice taken from her, deciding what to make for dinner was the first choice that was hers again. That was Elena's first full day.
