Lakewest Storefront This is the official page of the Lakewest Storefront for the Dallas Police Department in Texas. This page was created to provide our citizens access to information about our day to day operations in West Dallas.

Mission: The Police Department, in serving the people of Dallas, strives to reduce crime and provide a safe city by: Recognizing that its goal is to help people and provide assistance at every opportunity; Providing preventive, investigative, and enforcement services; Increasing citizen satisfaction with public safety and obtaining community cooperation through the Department's training, skills, and efforts; and Realizing that the Police Department alone cannot control crime, but must act in concert with the community and the rest of the Criminal Justice System. In achieving this mission, the men and women of the Dallas Police Department will conduct themselves in an ethical manner. They will: Respect and protect the rights of citizens as determined by the law; Treat citizens and their fellow employees courteously and with the same amount of dignity with which they expect to be treated themselves; Be examples of honesty and integrity in their professional and personal lives, thereby earning the public trust; Perform their duties with the knowledge that protection of the lives and property of all citizens is their primary duty; and Comply with the spirit and letter of the Code of Conduct.

Operating as usual


Safety reminders include:

- The speed limit in school zones in 20 mph.
- Pedestrians should always use designated crosswalks
- State law requires a person to obey the direction of a school crossing guard.
- Wireless hand-held communication devices are prohibited in school zones.
- Motorists may not pass a school bus that is operating its flashing red lights and/or has its stop sign displayed. ( Approaching traffic is not required to stop if the roadway is divided by a median)
- Anticipate traffic congestion around schools so allow additional time in these areas.
- Anticipate heavy police presence around these areas conducting traffic enforcement.

The Black Police Association of Greater Dallas will be hosting their 1st Annual back to School Blowout and Stop the Violence Rally on August 23, 2014, From 9:00am to 1:00pm. This will be held at the Mattie Nash Recreation Center. 3710 North Hampton Rd. If you need more information please contact the BPA at 214-421-7644.
