The Ross Fire west of Ft. Worth has grown to 80,000 acres following a record 7 days of 106 degree heat in North Texas that created the environment for a wildfire of this magnitude to occur. The state has only been able to contain 13% of the fire as of this morning.

Greg Abbott not only supported the Trump Administration’s gutting of social services that provide food and healthcare, but also the cuts to FEMA, the government agency responsible for emergency weather relief. Meanwhile, Texas consistently relies on FEMA support during the growing frequency of climate related emergencies in the state.

While Greg Abbott embraces private tech corporations that extract the state’s resources, the consequences of their effects on the climate are left for the working people of Texas to endure. The tax incentives these corporations are gifted by the Texas government place the burden of the energy grid, water supply, and now the climate crisis, onto the working taxpayers and their families.

It is clear that the people and the planet will always be collateral in the current capitalist system. We must not let our family and neighbors face the reality of climate change with no support. Under a socialist system, the people and the planet would be prioritized over corporate greed!

$6,844,234,150. That’s $3,014 per taxpayer in Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties.

The Democrats and Republicans sitting in office have failed to protect the people they’re supposed to serve. The nurses, the parents, the firefighters, the teachers who keep our city safe, have been pushed to the side for too long.

We’re told there isn’t enough money to continue funding our libraries or pay City of Dallas employees a fair wage. But the money has ALWAYS been there, they just choose to comply with Trump and his billionaire friends to steal our hard earned tax dollars to kidnap our neighbors.

Under a socialist system, we could house the approximately 3,500 homeless people living on the streets of Dallas, provide health care to the almost 900,000 uninsured people of Dallas and Tarrant counties, and provide food security for millions. This is just scraping the surface of what would be possible under a socialist system that prioritizes people over profits.

A better future is possible, we just have to imagine it and fight for it!

Republican commissioners want to cut 45% of polling locations ahead of the November elections. At a public meeting on August 4th, the community pushed back in defense of democratic rights. The public outcry resulted in the arrests of two community members. These arrests are a gross violation of our right to free speech.

The Tarrant County Commissioner's Court will vote on September 1st whether to limit democracy or not. People fought hard to win voting rights in this country. Now we have to fight back to defend them. Join us at the meeting to speak out against this disgusting attack on our rights!

☀️SSS Continues! How Empires Fall this Thursday, August 20th ☀️

How does major change happen in history? In this class we will place this moment in a longer historical timeline, while examining two crucial truths, that 1) empires do fall, even ones that humans never thought could and 2) the objective conditions generated by cascading crises contribute to that fall, but are not the sole reason. We will explore the why and how of empire’s decline, and determine what comes next.

☀️SSS MODULE 3: HOW REVOLUTIONS ARE MADE ☀️

Join us tomorrow, August 18th for our 6th class of the series: Learning From Defeats on the Road to Revolution.

Every revolution in history has come on the backs of hundreds of defeats. How does this help us define and recognize victories that go beyond winning immediate gains? Temporary defeats function as a school—they produce lessons, develop leaders and movements, and sharpen political consciousness. From the Paris Commune to the St. Louis Commune, we will examine how these setbacks teach us to define and recognize victories that extend beyond immediate concessions, building the collective capacity and endurance for the struggles ahead.

📚 STUDY. FAST. TRAIN. FIGHT.📚

Join us at the Dallas Liberation Center, for a panel commemorating Black August and its revolutionary legacy.

Black August is honored every year to commemorate the fallen freedom fighters of the Black Liberation Movement, uplift the struggle to free political prisoners in the United States, condemn the brutal conditions of the U.S. prison system, and deepen our commitment to the ongoing struggle for Black Liberation.

Born out of the resistance of incarcerated revolutionaries, Black August calls on us not only to remember, but to study, fast, train, and fight.

In the words of George Jackson: “Discover your humanity and your love of revolution.”
