As a lifelong resident of Whitfield County, I recognize the great heritage, human and natural resources we have here. I understand the needs and challenges we face. I am a Certified Public Accountant as well as a small business owner/operator. I was also a former auditor for Whitfield County. Having been involved daily in the financial structures of various entities of all sizes, I have the skills needed to serve as the county commissioner for District 2. I am ready to serve, and I am committed to representing you as District 2 Whitfield County commissioner.
Family values are very important to me. My wife Diedre and I have three children: Carter, age 23 McKinley, age 21, and Cole, age 15. I have coached baseball, basketball and football in the Dalton/Whitfield area over the past 15 years. I strive to not only be a coach to the kids, but also be a role model for the kids. I have also been an official for youth baseball, basketball and football in Whitfield County, as well as officiating high school baseball, softball, volleyball and football while a student at Auburn University.
Education is a primary concern of mine. I am a graduate of Dalton High School, attended Young Harris College for two years while playing baseball and graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree and master's degree in accounting. I believe education is fundamental to the success of our children.
Having graduated from the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield academy in 2006, I feel that I am qualified to lead Whitfield County into more progressive and prosperous days. As your county commissioner, I will work to cut unnecessary expenditures and explore the idea of combining city and county services where feasible. I will actively pursue bringing new businesses to all areas of Whitfield County, whether through the use of sewer expansion or possible tax incentives. I will work to improve the quality of everyday life for all the citizens of Whitfield County.
