DCPLA is teaming up with Peninsula Book Collaborative and Siy Gallery for a one-of-a-kind upcycling project. Pick up unsellable books at Peninsula Books or Siy Gallery, and turn them into sculptural centerpieces — with a chance to be featured in an exhibition at Siy Gallery in Tanforan Mall, Oct. 1–31! 🎨 Selected pieces will go on to serve as decor at DCPLA's 15th Anniversary donor appreciation gala: The Next Chapter. Keep your art after the show, or donate it to our Silent Auction to support DCPLA's mission of connecting our community through the Daly City Public Library.

DCPLA Director Sanya Singhal proudly presented a $12,500 grant to the Daly City Council on April 27.
✨$2,000 was donated in memory of former Library Director Carol Simmons, supporting the Library’s Lucky Day Collection—a tribute to her lasting love of reading and dedication to our community.
✨ $10,500 will fully fund key “Fund the Need” items from our St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon, including:
• A welcoming Community Room mural at Serramonte Main Library
• Summer Learning Scholarships to support young readers
• New “Library of Things” kits for hands-on learning and exploration

This past weekend, DCPLA attended the 2026 National Youth Laureate Commencement in Omaha, Nebraska, to cheer on Chloe Chou - the 2026 West Region Finalist and our former 2022-2023 Daly City Youth Poet Laureate. It was an inspiring event featuring performances by the four finalists, including a group poem highlighting each of their unique backgrounds. We are so incredibly proud of all Chloe has done to represent Daly City and California at the national stage!

2nd Annual Earth Day Bookmark Contest! 🌎 📖♻️

In celebration of Earth Day, Republic Services — in partnership with the City of Daly City and Daly City Public Library Associates (DCPLA) — is inviting all K–5 students in Daly City schools to participate in the 2nd Annual Earth Day Bookmark Contest. This year’s theme, “Earth First,” encourages students to creatively express how they care for the planet.

Beyond art, the contest also supports the C.L.E.A.N. Daly City initiative, which promotes community pride, environmental stewardship, and awareness about the impacts of illegal dumping. Through their designs, students can help spread an important message: keeping Daly City clean starts with all of us.

Submit entries by May 15, 2026 to the Republic Services office (1680 Edgeworth Ave.). Winners will be announced on May 22, 2026 and will be recognized at an upcoming City Council Meeting.
