The people have been saying for years that electric rates are too high, and finally after eight years, and only two months before a primary Governor Lamont decided he should propose something. His plan is too little too late.

I have been working for years to lower electric costs for the ratepayers of the 30th district. Eliminating the public benefits charge will bring immediate relief. This past session I voted against legislation that would have added to the public benefits. The Governor could have vetoed that bill, but decided to sign it and raise rates.

I have been calling for reforms to our utility regulators. I have been saying for years that PURA needs to be truly independent, and after years of fighting for it, PURA Is operationally independent. I called out this administration when they cut a shady backroom deal to keep a PURA Chair that was embroiled in controversy. This Chair would eventually step down in disgrace.

Myself and the Senate Republican Caucus have spent years fighting to get relief for our ratepayers, while the Governor and Majority Democrats in Hartford have refused to make the hard decisions needed.

I will continue to fight to bring real relief from our electric rates.

“A Goodnight Kiss” will be performed June 13th and 14th at Five Points Art Center in Torrington.

Written by award-winning playwright and Wi******er resident, Cinzi Lavin, “A Goodnight Kiss” is inspired by the true story of two Goshen Residents during the Civil War

In April, I had the opportunity to meet with the award-winning playwright and Wi******er resident, Cinzi Lavin, at the State Capitol. Cinzi wrote the incredible play “A Goodnight Kiss,” which is inspired by the true love story of two Goshen residents during the Civil War. The play is directed by Litchfield County’s own Kathy Kelly, a regional theater veteran.

The production brings to life 90 authentic letters exchanged between Sarah Jane “Jennie” Wadhams and Sergeant Major Frederick Lucas (who later served as a state legislator), written between 1863 and 1867.

“A Goodnight Kiss” will be performed by special engagement on June 13th and June 14th at Five Points Arts Center in Torrington. Make sure to get your tickets and watch this great play featuring rich history and talent from across the 30th District!
