ADF inspires underserved children to reach for their dreams through innovative reading programs and by advancing the cause of early childhood literacy.
Founded in 1996 as a 501c(3), Non-Profit, Public Charity, Kristi Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation was established with one purpose in mind: to support organizations that have a positive influence on children. Since its inception, the Always Dream Foundation has purchased computers for an after-school mentoring program, provided "shopping sprees" for underprivileged children to purchase back-to-school clothing, organized Holiday parties for children's shelters and sponsored summer camp for kids with disabilities. Always Dream has now made a long-term commitment to address the deepening crisis in education in the United States. Committed to the belief that early childhood literacy is the foundation on which all academic and, in fact, life success is built, we have set our sights on dramatically improving access by children of low-income families to books and technology.
We woke up to some AMAZING news! Yesterday for #GivingTuesdayNow we challenged you to raise $10,000 to provide e-tablets, access to a digital library with thousands of books, and internet access for all of our Always Dream students ... and you came through! Thanks to you, we exceeded our goal and will connect more kids to reading during these crucial summer months. Your donation tells the kids we serve that "Education isn't cancelled." ❤️ Thank you 10,000 times!
The digital divide has always been a challenge in low-income households, it's now in the forefront because home learning only works when you have the technology.
Our Always Reading literacy program, provides access to 21st century technology, e-tablets, digital library and internet for those that need. All free to students we serve throughout the school year.
Be part of our commitment to give students in need the tools needed to succeed in life. AlwaysDream.org/give
California Gov. Newsom announced a statewide plan to distribute laptops and other technology to disadvantaged students trying to keep up with distance learning during the coronavirus crisis. The program will begin with 70,000 computers that were donated to the state.

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving to the causes we care about. With school closures, many students do not have access to books or technology at home. Join us in saying “Education isn’t cancelled.”

#FlashbackFriday: This time last year we were hosting our graduation ceremonies for all of our Always Dream students. It’s a time to celebrate their year-long commitment, hard work, and achievements in the Always Reading literacy program. With school closures, our students' lives may have been interrupted, but with your help, their education doesn't have to be.
#GivingTuesdayNow is coming up on Tuesday, May 5, and our students need your help! Will you give $25 today to ensure each of our students has a reading tablet and access to thousands of books, plus internet access at home? AlwaysDream.org/Give

Teachers going above and beyond.
Kelley Close wrote this about her daughter and her daughter‘s teacher.
(On the right)
It’s pretty awesome what the teacher did.
Here’s what Kelley posted:
Hannah's class has a Zoom session each evening.
Last night she got really sad and kinda shut down.
Today her teacher came over and hung out for a bit.
They chatted, read books, and just talked.
This woman has FIVE kids at home and STILL she sat in my driveway for an hour to make sure Hannah was okay.
This may sound sappy.
But there’s just so much humanity out there.
It’s always amazing to me how people let their guard down during a crisis and follow their heart instead.
Maybe if anything good comes from the corona virus it’s that it will remind us that we’re all pieces of the same puzzle.
#ThrowbackThursday to the days we had Storytime with friends in person! Join Kristi and fellow Olympian @polinaedmunds tomorrow, Friday at noon for Online Storytime on @kristiyamaguchi IG Live! 🎉📚❤️

We hope you are all staying safe at home. Our board member Bret Hedican sent around this quote today. He says, "This is brilliantly stated for the times we’re in. When we bore this down from this World we live in / the Country that’s ours / the State we call home / the Community that surrounds us / the Family that raises us / there's only a few things in life that one can truly touch greatness or make deep impact by themselves. Most of us have to touch greatness and make impact in concert with others. WE > ME" In the spirit of "WE", the #AlwaysDream team has a special surprise for all of the classes we serve. We can't wait to share it with you! What are you doing to give back to others during this time?

"We may be stuck inside right now, but there's a whole world we can explore each day by reading. Re-reading old favorites fosters a sense of security in children. Stop every few pages and ask, 'What's going to happen next?' Making predictions helps young readers pay attention to details and understand that the author leaves little clues for them along the way." - Kathy, Book Coach at Always Dream Foundation
The students and families in our Always Reading program receive weekly tips and inspiration via text from our creative Book Coach Kathy! ❤️ Kathy and all our teachers are true heroes.
We will all get through this together.
I will teach you here or there, I will teach you anywhere.
Too real. 😂

Words From Kristi The motto "Always Dream" has served as my personal inspiration for many years. It is my constant reminder to dream big, never lose sight of my goals, and strive to become a better person. It is fitting that my own charity be named the Always Dream Foundation. I realize that the dreams and accomplishments I have fulfilled are a direct result of my family's nurture and love. While I have been supported in the pursuit of my dreams, I realize that such opportunities do not exist for all children. For that reason, I felt the desire to create an organization whose sole purpose would be to inspire and embrace the hopes and dreams of children. Through my Always Dream Foundation, I simply hope to help children fulfill their dreams.
