We’re celebrating 388 years of service! YOUR Massachusetts National Guard traces its origins to December 13th, 1636, when the Massachusetts Bay Colony's General Court organized its militia into three permanent regiments. The descendants of these first regiments are still serving the Bay State today and share the distinction of being the oldest units in the U.S. military. 🫡 Thank you to everyone who sent in birthday videos from around the globe 🌎 as part of today's celebration! Members from the Mass. Army National Guard 3-126th Aviation Battalion assisted firefighter crews in Montgomery, Mass, on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

With their Blackhawk, aviators are able to drop about 500 gallons of water every trip, helping ground crews control the spread of fires.

Prior to Montgomery, the helicopter crew was in Northhampton, Ma assisting firefighters there.

As of Nov 3, 87 brush and wildland fires had been reported throughout the state over the last 7 days. Mass Guard aviators have been out assisting across the state.

Your Guardsmen are to help support the Commonwealth and the Nation.

Today the RRB gathered to celebrate the achievements of some of our best Soldiers, leaders, and teams and to recognize and promote some of the best among us! Congratulations to all! 🎉

Soldiers, Airmen, Guardians, and cadets from across New England took part in the German Armed Proficiency Badge Qualification test from September 5th through 7th 2024. The German Armed Proficiency Badge, or GAFPB is awarded to German Soldiers who excel in their standard military tests. American service members are able to complete the test and wear the badge on their dress uniforms.

The three-day event included a 100M swim, first-aid, and use of nuclear, biological, and chemical personal protective equipment tests, the German fitness test, pistol qualification, and a 12k ruck march.

The event is done in partnership with officers and Non-commissioned officers from the German armed forces, who ensure the test is completed to standard.

Completing the challenge allows U.S. forces to wear the GAFPB badge on their dress uniform. It is one of the few foreign awards authorized for wear by U.S. Servicemembers.
