Hey Everyone! This internship opportunity was shared with us by Eben Crawford, who graduated from the Bioengineering program this past Spring for those of you who don't know him. Take a look!
If anyone is looking for an internship we currently have a position open. You can send resumes to me at [email protected].
There is a description of the position in the link below but I can answer any additional questions that anyone might have.

The Intern will be exposed to the practical side of Bio manufacturing. The Intern will learn and eventually assist in routine manufacturing processes. This position is located at the Fall River, MA facility.

"The future is now at UMass Dartmouth's bioengineering lab where students and staff are working on things that were once the stuff of science fiction."

Read more about the six faculty members, four PhD students and more than 120 undergraduates currently using new teaching and research spaces created at UMassD:

Does anyone have any books for tech comm, biomeasurement, or biotransport?

SUMMER RESEARCH!!! Check you emails for a list

"Fewer than 3 in 10 graduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are women. And barely 1 in 10 actual engineers are women. Early in a girl's life, the toys marketed to her are usually things that don't encourage her to enter those fields. GoldieBlox intends to change that by teaching them while they are young that these fields can be fun — and apparently epic, by the looks of this super-genius 2-minute video. Watch and learn."

After watching, please click the VOTE link on the page so they can win a chance at airing this commercial during the Super Bowl !!!

Tired of ads playing to the worst stereotypes of girls? Have I got the three little geniuses for you.

ROOM CHANGE: Please go to LIB 226 for tonight's SWE/BMES resume workshop at 5pm. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, we hope to see you there!!

Innovation and collaboration with one goal in mind. Think outside the box and don't ignore your ideas, no matter how different may be!

Tal Golesworthy is a boiler engineer -- he knows piping and plumbing. When he needed surgery to repair a life-threatening problem with his aorta, he mixed his engineering skills with his doctors' medical knowledge to design a better repair job. (Filmed at

Hey guys,

Next Thursday, Boston University Biomedical Engineering Society Industry Chapter will be hosting a seminar on Medical Device Innovation - Logistics and Case Studies. This event is from 5:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.. These are the main ideas that will be discussed: Intellectual property and how to protect it, Business development, and Engaging doctors in medical device innovation. If you are interested, you can register by clicking here.

I will be attending and can provide transportation for a few members. We will rock a party bus if enough people are interested.

Let me know if you register,

Blood clots that lead to heart attack and stroke can be hard to detect until it’s too late. A new test uses nanoparticles to detect levels of thrombin, a blood clotting factor, in a patient’s urine.

Certain patients, based on lifestyle or medication, are at greater risk for developing clots. A noninvasive test could allow physicians to monitor these patients before the clot breaks free, causing severe damage.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 10/16) UMass President Caret will be visiting the MAB center in Fall River. The MAB center is a bio-manufacturing center. We are planning to go and are looking for around 10 members to come with us. This is a great opportunity to see bioengineering outside of academia. The visit will take place from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Send us an email tonight if you are interested.

Also, on the 24th of October at 5:30 PM, there will be a seminar in Boston hosted by the Boston BMES chapter. The seminar's focus is on medical device innovation. We could organize a car-pool, or if need be we could get a party bus.

We are just about half way through the semester guys, I can almost taste the candy canes.

Hey guys! Tomorrow at 4 in Textiles 001 (it's a computer lab, pretty awesome), we're holding a meeting for anyone interested in creating a LinkedIn page. We're also going to be showing you how to use MyOrgs and sign up for the national BMES. Hope to see a lot of you there!

How is everyone's summer?

Our BMES sweatshirts are in! We have sizes: S, M, L, XL. The cost is only $25. Send us an email if you'd like one.
