Accountability matters. So does prosecutorial discretion.

This is a prime example of why Judge Steven Abshire deserves your vote November 3rd.

On October 8, the Kettering Police Department publicly expressed its disappointment with the resolution of a criminal case involving a stolen vehicle, a stolen fi***rm, and a defendant accused of repeatedly ramming police cruisers while attempting to flee.

Despite multiple felony convictions, the defendant received five years of probation, rehabilitation requirements, and restitution.

The department's concerns deserve to be heard.

Prosecutors (that are also running as judicial candidates) make consequential decisions about which charges to pursue, which plea agreements to negotiate, and how to balance rehabilitation with public safety. Judges exercise their own independent discretion at sentencing.

Those decisions deserve thoughtful scrutiny, particularly when the attorneys involved seek judicial office.

A judicial election is an opportunity to examine not only a candidate's experience, but also the decisions made throughout that experience. This is judicial candidate Richard Glennon's record - right before the election.

This is why Merit fully supports and endorsed Judge Steven Abshire.

Just 1,201 votes. Imagine the difference your vote will make this election cycle.

That was the difference between the two major presidential candidates in Montgomery County in 2024.

Kamala Harris received 126,767 votes. Donald Trump received 125,566.

It's a reminder of just how closely contested elections can be, and why every legal vote deserves to be cast and counted.
