Macon County Democratic Central Committee Chairman Bryan E. Smith along with several others from Macon County attended the Illinois Democratic County Chairman's Association brunch in Springfield on August 19th at the BOS Center. The crowd of almost 4,000 heard from guest speaker U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts. All Statewide Democratic candidates for office spoke and a special tribute was given to retiring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

What a FANTASTIC Central Committee Meeting for August. We had a huge turnout and more chairs had to be brought in so everyone could have a seat. Our special guest speaker was State Senator Doris Turner who gave great remarks and answered questions. Everyone is all fired up and hopefully this enthusiasm continues through November 3!

Today’s 11th credit upgrade is another powerful sign of how far Illinois has come. Under Governor Pritzker’s leadership in partnership with the General Assembly we have made fiscal responsibility a priority, passing eight consecutive balanced budgets while paying down debt, rebuilding our rainy day fund and making critical investments in families and communities across our state. That progress matters because stronger finances mean taxpayer dollars go further and Illinois can invest more in the services people rely on. I’m proud to have been part of the work to put our state on stronger financial footing, and as our next Comptroller, I’ll keep building on that progress by protecting taxpayers, strengthening transparency and ensuring Illinois continues to pay its bills on time.
