There is another scam alert that you should be aware of. If you receive a call claiming you have a warrant like the example provided, please end the call immediately and do not interact further. This is a 100% scam. The Newton County Sheriff’s Department will not issue warrant notifications via phone calls.

If you get a text saying the Driver Service Bureau is going to suspend your license, cancel your vehicle registration, or demanding immediate payment… it’s a SCAM!

DSB will not text you threatening suspension or asking you to click random links to pay fees.

❌Don’t click the link. ❌Don’t reply. ❌Delete the message.

The Newton County Sheriff's Office would like to extend our heartfelt prayers to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the family of Jackson County Deputy Michael Jimerson. We ask that you keep his family and department in your prayers in the coming days.

Mississippi is mourning the loss of Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Jimerson who was killed in the line of duty last night.

Deputy Jimerson was a hero who bravely sacrificed his life while protecting and serving others.

Our entire state is praying for Deputy Jimerson’s family, friends, and everyone at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

We will never forget him.

I personally had a phone call about 30 minutes ago from publishers clearing house. Apparently I won $2.3 million and a brand new Chevrolet truck to be delivered to my house today at 4:45. After begging him to please come deliver it to my house and a really nasty conversation with this individual, he hung up on me. So add this one to the scam list, publishers clearing house does not call you to deliver you a prize.

If you receive a call from someone saying they are doing a promotional deal for DoorDash and at&T, it is a scam. Block their number, if they call back on another number block that one too.
