I’ve joined my colleagues representing central and southern Illinois in signing onto a letter to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) insisting that contract negotiations resume immediately and continue on a daily basis with the objective of reaching an agreement that preserves retirees’ access to BJC HealthCare facilities and providers.

The State of Illinois and CMS have an important role in ensuring that retired state employees have access to health insurance coverage that includes appropriate healthcare providers in their region and by not continuing negotiations, many constituents are left without reliable health care.

It is our hope that all parties will continue to work together and reach an agreement that best supports our State of Illinois retirees.

The Illinois Gaming Board has approved a proposed rule that would add video gaming to its voluntary Self-Exclusion Program.

The cost of homeownership in Illinois has gotten much more expensive in just the last 5 years. According to a recent study from MoneyLion, Illinoisans need to make $40,871 more than they did 5 years ago in order to afford a home. However, under Governor Pritzker, wage growth has stagnated in our state.

Our residents, homeowners, and job creators face some of the highest effective tax rates in the nation and it's pushing the American Dream further and further out of reach for Illinois families and especially young adults, who we hope will be able to afford to live and work here. It's time to provide relief, rein in state spending, and make Illinois a more affordable place to live and grow.

A new study compared how much more it costs to buy a home in 2026 than it did five years ago in 2021.

A slew of ethics scandals rocked Illinois Democrats this summer, the latest in a long history of corruption in Illinois. Right here in central Illinois, Representative Carol Ammons serving the Champaign-Urbana area was indicted on several federal charges and has a trial set for December of this year. Governor Pritzker's response? Lawmakers should simply remove themselves from office if they want to break the law.

Elected officials need to be held accountable for bad behavior. House Republicans have consistently called for real ethics reforms, and we will continue to stand up for an honest, transparent state government. The people of Illinois deserve it.

ICYMI: Illinois' tax burden is up to nearly $86 billion under the Pritzker Administration. As if that weren't bad enough, wages in the state grew 0% from 2018-2025. The Illinois Department of Corrections is hosting a screening event in Livingston County at the Pontiac Recreation Center on Thursday, November 19th. The screening event is hosted to test Corrections Officer and Corrections Treatment Officer Trainee applicants.

Sign in time will be between 7:30 and 8:30 that morning and all applicants should plan to be at the screening venue until at least 5:30 that evening.
