On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Delaware Evening Kiwanis and North Central Pollinator Pathways, with the assistance of Girl Scout Troop 4886, constructed and planted two pollinator gardens near the entrance of Mingo Park. The gardens were planted with Ohio native plants and will be surrounded by Little Blue Stem prairie grass. A third garden, called a scrape, will be added and planted with Ohio native plants that thrive in wetlands.
The gardens were designed by Allison Mayer and Tyler Frysinger from NCPP, a chapter of a national group active in 20 states. Terry Hermsen, who organized the volunteers, said that the tentatively named “Mingo Park Prairie” will also feature walking paths and hopefully benches for visitors. Volunteers ranged from pre-school to octogenarian, demonstrating the strength of our community.
Delaware Evening Kiwanis meets at 6 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at Old Bag of Nails on N. Sandusky Street.

Meet LJ from Georgia! 💚

LJ couldn't stop smiling as he watched his parents assemble his new adaptive bike. The wait was long but the moment he started riding, every second was worth it. Now, he's loving every bit of his newfound freedom.
