Rocky Mountain Scottie Rescue, Inc. rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes Scottish Terriers in the Rocky Mountain Region. RMSR is a volunteer-based tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the Denver metro area of Colorado. Most of the dogs in our program have been relinquished by their owners for many reasons which may include: a new baby, illness or death, job relocation, economic har

dship, dog behavior or the Scottie does not fit their lifestyle, and divorce. Occasionally a dog may be transferred to us from regional animal shelters. The average age of a rescued Scottie with RMSR is 6.8 years of age. These adult dogs make terrific companion animals. We would love to adopt out young Scotties, however, the reality is the RMSR rarely sees very young dogs in its program. All Scotties entering the Rescue Program receive full medical checkups from a licensed veterinarian, are always spayed or neutered, are micro-chipped, and vaccinations updated as required. In those cases
where more extensive veterinary care is indicated, the Scotties receive whatever care is deemed necessary for treatable conditions. Our cost to care for a rescued Scottie averages more than $740. Each Scottie is placed in their own dedicated and caring volunteer foster home. This allows them to feel loved and secure while being evaluated for behavior and temperament. Foster care-givers are at the core of our program. Their assessment of and experience with the dogs in their care help make the transition of the rescued Scottie easier for both dog and adoption family. Our adoption fee is $400. We may waive a portion of this fee depending on the Scottie's age and health.

When I saw this darling Scottie on line, I couldn’t help but to grin and think to myself that sounds like one of my Scotties at the door! I can imagine that many of you picture your Scottie doing the same thing. Follow RMSR on Facebook

We have all heard that elephants never forget, I would like to add that Scotties also never forget. My Scottie continues to search for a cat she saw in our yard two weeks ago. And she always checks her hiding places for her chew bones to make sure they haven’t been moved. Is it the same at your house? Follow RMSR on Facebook.

Many Scottie dogs like to watch TV and many Scotties like to sit on the back of the sofa. This little Scottie likes to do both. Not an unusual happening in my home, how about yours? I saw this picture on Etsy and I’m sharing it with all of you. Follow RMSR on Facebook.

Treat did someone say the magic word treat? We love treat time, and yes sometimes it’s easier to award a treat than try to ignore the Scottie asking or begging for the treat. Follow RMSR on Facebook. Thanks!

Warmer weather may mean hummingbirds in our garden. This pretty picture by Michel Steddun started me thinking about Scottie dogs and how inquisitive they are about their surroundings. Another reason we love Scotties. Follow RMSR on Facebook.

We all have experienced this situation when we are busy reading or working on a computer or a hobby. Scottie dogs love to be the center of attention, when it’s their idea of course! This is one of the many reasons we love them. Follow RMSR on Facebook.
