Yesterday, the City of Des Plaines hosted a Community Open House to share ideas and gather public feedback on the future of the Oakton & Lee Corridor.

As your City Clerk, I believe one of my responsibilities is helping keep residents informed about what's happening in our community, especially when it comes to projects that could shape the future of our city.

The concepts explored a wide range of ideas, including enhancing walkability, improving streetscapes, supporting local businesses, encouraging thoughtful redevelopment, creating more public gathering spaces, and improving safety and connectivity throughout the corridor. These are concepts intended to start a conversation and gather community feedback, not final plans.

Take a few minutes to look through the presentation.

What ideas do you like? What would you change? Are there concepts you think the City should explore further?

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. 👇

It was a pleasure to join the Chicago Healthcare Alliance Lions Club last week for their Governor’s Day and installation of new officers at Lion’s Wood here in Des Plaines.

This incredible organization is dedicated to promoting diabetes prevention and raising awareness across the Chicagoland area. Their work, led by committed medical professionals, continues to make a meaningful impact on community health outcomes.

Congratulations to all the new officers! Thank you for the invitation and for choosing Des Plaines as the host for your annual event 🎉

Looking for a sweet treat this summer? Look no further than Des Plaines! 🍦

For the third episode of my Small Business Shoutout series, I stopped by one of Des Plaines' small businesses, Marciano Ice Cream, to meet the incredible family behind the shop and learn more about their story.

Located at 36 E. Northwest Hwy. in Des Plaines, Marciano Ice Cream specializes in handcrafted, small-batch ice cream made with real, all-natural ingredients. Their Polish roots and commitment to quality shine through in every scoop, and they even feature rotating, limited-time flavors inspired by Poland that you won't find just anywhere.

If you're in Des Plaines or anywhere in the Northwest suburbs, be sure to stop by, grab a scoop, and support this amazing local business!

Des Plaines has a bright future ahead.

Over the next four years, Mayor Andrew Goczkowski, the City Council, and I are committed to keeping our city moving forward by focusing on the priorities that matter most: strengthening our local economy, investing in infrastructure and sustainability, building a workforce of excellence, maintaining our City's strong financial foundation, and enhancing the quality of life and image of our community.

These priorities will help shape the future of Des Plaines and ensure our city remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Happy Fourth of July!! 🇺🇸 🦅

Thank you to the City of Des Plaines Government Des Plaines Fire Department and the Des Plaines Police Department for hosting a safe and fun parade!

06/29/2026

This Saturday, July 4th, the City of Des Plaines will host its annual Independence Day parade, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States!

The parade steps off at 10:00 AM at the intersection of Center St. and Wicke Ave.

After the parade, I encourage you and your family to stick around for more community fun. The Des Plaines History Center will host post-parade festivities, including a reading of the Declaration of Independence, hands-on historic yard games, and tours of the new Flora, Fauna, and Us exhibit, highlighting the rich ecological history of Des Plaines.

If you can’t make it this weekend, there’s more to look forward to! Join the Des Plaines History Center on July 19th for the Kinder Family Picnic, where you can make your own butter and ice cream and pose for an old-time family portrait.

I hope to see you and your family out celebrating America 250 with me this weekend! 🇺🇸
