A quick scheduling update for our Detroit Lakes neighbors!

If you were planning to join us for lunch this week, please note that we will not be hosting our regular meeting this Thursday.

Our club members are taking some time this week to gather for our internal "Changing of the Guard" celebration.

This is a time for us to look back and celebrate the impact we made together over the last year, thank our outgoing board, and officially welcome our incoming president and leadership team as they prepare to guide our service efforts forward.

We would love to welcome you to a meeting soon! We will return to our normal schedule next week, so please plan to join us on Thursday, June 11.

Celebrating a fantastic year of service!

As we head into the weekend, we are reflecting on all the incredible projects, inspiring guest speakers, and community connections that made this past year so meaningful for the Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary.

Please note that we will not be hosting our regular lunch meeting next Thursday, June 4. Instead, our members are gathering on Wednesday evening for our annual, club-only "Changing of the Guard" ceremony.

This is a special tradition where we celebrate our incoming president and leadership team, while showing our deepest gratitude to the outgoing administration and all the volunteers who poured their hearts into making our community stronger this past year.

We will be right back at it the following week! Mark your calendars to join us as a guest on Thursday, June 11 at our normal time and place.

Step behind the scenes with us! TODAY, at LUNCH time (AND lunch is on US!)

If you have ever wondered how a service group like the Detroit Lakes Noon Rotary actually gets things done, this week is the perfect time to find out. This Thursday, we are hosting a club business meeting to check in on our local initiatives, review our current community projects, and plan our path forward for the summer.

These meetings are the real engine of our club. It is where our members share fresh ideas, make decisions on where to focus our fundraising efforts, and figure out exactly how we can best serve Detroit Lakes.

No pressure and no long speeches, just a room full of neighbors working together to make a difference. We would love to save a seat for you!

Bringing the beauty of the lakes and sky to life.

If your'e looking to appreciate the incredible talent right here in our region, you need to check out the work of artist Kent Estey Estey Paintings

Kent is a proud member of the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe, and his stunning abstract paintings capture the heart of northwestern Minnesota. Living in the woods near Naytahwaush with his wife Becky, Kent draws inspiration from the forests, waters, and shifting skies around us. He brings these landscapes to life using deep earth tones, rich blues, and unique textures like stone and copper to honor his beautiful Ojibwe heritage.

Kent recently joined our club as a guest speaker, and his story is just as powerful as his art. If you ever get the opportunity to hear him speak in person, it is an absolute must-attend.

You can experience his current exhibition, Mino-Bimaadiziwin (The Good Life), right here in town through Project 412 from now through September 2026. Keep an eye out for him at local arts festivals this summer, or browse his collection online.

An engaging, impactful, and powerful presentation at Rotary!

A huge thank you to contemporary artist Kent Estey Estey Paintings , a proud member of the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe, for speaking to our club yesterday. Kent shared his journey, his connection to his family, his craft, and his love for the landscape of northwestern Minnesota, and, most impactfully (if you ask me) a deeply moving telling of his grandmother's story that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. If you ever have the chance to hear Kent speak, do not pass it up.

His incredible abstract paintings reflect his Ojibwe heritage, using rich colors, textures, and elements like stone and copper. We highly encourage everyone to seek out his work.

Right now, you can view his exhibition, Mino-Bimaadiziwin (The Good Life), on display through Project 412 in Detroit Lakes from May through September 2026. You can also find his work in numerous collections, regional festivals, and art centers across the Midwest.
