I have a ticket and a bus that is full of a solar power system that Im loaning to the Temple this year. They don't have a lot of vehicle passes and asked if I could scare one up on my own. So I'm on the hunt. Share this if you feel inspired and THANKS

BACKPACKS TO BEDS

Hello!! With your help and kind donations, BWB Detroit has made thousands of backpacks for many years from 2007 to early in 2023!

This year we are taking a little different approach. As BWB Detroit has been working on many projects in conjunction with New Path Villages (NPV), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we are putting our efforts into helping get people off the streets on cold nights, with the goal of evidently doing so permanently.

Those identified as chronically homeless stay on the streets thru the ravages of Detroit's winter. Many either cannot or will not go into shelters, which as of last week are already FULL! Every year, some die from the elements. Somebody's son, someone's aunt.

WHAT CAN WE DO???

Well, we did a pilot of this last year and feel we can help more people this year. HOW? New Path Villages has a church on Detroit's Eastside. It has heat, bathrooms, and places for people to sleep inside during the cold months. We have foam pads on the pews, with clean sheets, blankets, and pillows. As folks come in the evening from the cold they are offered snacks and food then a full hot breakfast is provided in the morning along with a bus pass to get them back to day shelters for more warmth and meals.

We realize we are asking a lot this year of you all. This effort costs over $15,000 for the 3-4 months we run this program from Dec to March 2024

PLEASE, this year, consider a cash donation instead of the normal socks, gloves, etc that you have been so generously giving for years.
It is tax deductible. Receipts will be given. Ask your employer if they have a donation program and could use a tax break. Everything helps!

It is the best thing we can ( and will )do until we get the Village of tiny homes built.

BWB Detroit has been blessed with your generosity so many times. We could have never done what we have without you. Never….

Thank you to everyone who made our Fall Harvest Dinner a success..to everyone who made and prepped food..to all the local stores that donated food, to Mint Artists Guild for setting up a creation station and to all the folks who helped set up and tear down..and esp to all the neighbors who joined us for a meal and chats!!
