👋🏾 🎥 ROLLLLLLING, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1….Every interview has been a breadcrumb. One name leads to another, one story opens the door to another.

The Detroit Poetry Archive is a labor of love, but preservation requires participation. Say their names. The ancestors and the living. Tell me about the poets, organizers, venues, photographs, flyers, recordings and stories that need to be held.

If you want to be interviewed, contribute to the archive, or simply have something to say, fill out the link in my bio.

This is the work of 10 people, and so far, it’s just me. Give me grace as I build something meant to outlive all of us. Detroit Poetry gave me space to w**d, bloom and blossom. This is my gift back.

The Detroit Poetry Archive is all of ours. I just chose to create the container.

✨Black Bottom Archives’ Black Legacy Fellowship has held my Saturday mornings hostage for months now 😂 but never was there a meeting I didn’t enjoy.

They were proactive, communicative, transparent, and intentional in their approach. Black Bottom Archives pushed me deeper into the role of what it means to be a storyteller. From story to archive. From telling to preserving. From documenting what is happening now to thinking about what we are leaving behind.

Thank you , , and 🖤 Y’all kept the assembly moving and were so gentle with us throughout this process. Thank you for your dedication to this work and your willingness to keep pushing it forward in the most authentic way you could muster up. Y’all the bee’s knees. 🐝

Special S/O to .deangelus for being that extra help whenever I felt stuck or overwhelmed in process.

😮‍💨🥹 Seems like just yesterday we were preparing for our presentations at the Black Bottom Legacy Festival.

I’ve put so much care, time, and work into building the Detroit Poetry Archive, and I’m excited for all that it will continue to become as time goes on.

Here are a few photos from that day. I’m especially grateful for the feedback I received throughout this process. It ultimately helped me think deeper, dig further, and make the presentation that much fuller. 🖤

The archive is still growing.

If you want to be interviewed, contribute materials to the archive, share a memory, or simply have something to say, fill out the form at the link in my bio.
