We were faced with a challenge to build the first Angels of Hope USA- Gawad Kalinga Village, home for fifty families in Novaliches, Quezon City, with the organization building thirty five (35) homes. With the challenge of a village, we are more determined to help village children and their parents maintain as much a normal life as they can, by obtaining funding for the parent's livelihood via inte
rest free and collateral free micro business loans, and scholarship grants for education of their children. The program has done very well; our focus is to support poor deserving students in the barrios who can not afford to attend and finish high school by providing them uniform, transportation, and meal allowance. Currently we have 41 scholars, this is a dream come true for one of its founder, Petita Virata. Our dole out program, during our March 2007 visit to the Holy Trinity Home for Children, we recognized that the place has sufficient rooms to accommodate street children but cannot due to lack of funds. To help them, we started a rice campaign for $20 a month to provide a much needed staple. On our yearly trip, members hand out food, toys, and money to the Pediatric Ward Burn Unit of the Philippine General Hospital. Our 2007 food drive was directed to 400 children at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Tayuman, Tondo, Manila, home to our Philippine spiritual director, Rev. Medicines and medical supplies were provided for their free clinic. This year, the recipients of our food drive will be the flood victims of Mariveles, Bataan. Our group and our supporters are tireless and have bonded in achieving our goals of giving hope and optimism. As we continue the road of sharing "Straight From The Heart" please keep in mind, we depend on voluntary kindness of friends like you. We promise we will have to work hard to make every penny go as far as we can. On behalf of all our scholars, our graduates, our village families and the many children blessed with our gifts, specially to Msgr. Jim Loughnane our spiritual director, we thank you. Please keep in mind, your tax deductible donation is crucial as we help more poor families in the Philippines.
