During extreme heat, staying cool at home is an important part of protecting yourself and your family. ❄

Here are a few ways to prepare and stay safe:
🏠 Identify the coolest areas of your home and spend time there during the hottest part of the day.
🪟 Close blinds or curtains to block the sun, and ventilate your home at night if temperatures are cooler.
❄️ Use air conditioning if available. Fans can help you feel cooler but may not prevent heat-related illness during extreme heat.
🐾 Don't forget your pets. Make sure they have plenty of water, shade, and a cool place to rest.
💧 Wear lightweight clothing and use cool, wet cloths on your neck or wrists to help lower your body temperature.

A few simple steps can make a big difference during periods of extreme heat.
