Regardless of your party affiliation or political persuasion, what are the qualities one looks for in a leader? What qualities should she or he possess that make them worthy of your vote?

During my 3 years of serving on the Prince George County Board of Supervisors, I have tried to abide by these 10 qualities below:

1. Trustworthiness: The ability to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

2. Forward Thinker: Someone who is prepared to avoid failure and believes in innovation and science.

3. Respectful: The ability to show deference or respect for all people regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

4. Magnanimous: The ability to be generous or forgiving, especially toward a rival.

5. Great Communicator: The ability to make clear one’s thoughts and ideas.

6. Transparent: The ability to have thoughts, feelings or motives that are easy to perceive.

7. Inclusive: The ability to not exclude ANY group of people.

8. Open-mindedness: The ability to consider new ideas; unprejudiced.

9. Critical Thinker: The ability to make decisions based on logic and intellect.

10. Empathetic: The ability to understand the feelings of another.

If you feel that I have been able to uphold these qualities, I look forward to your support in November of 2021.

Just welcomed Sheetz to our Prince George Community this morning at 10:45 am as we celebrated their Grand Opening out on Puddledock Road next to the Harley Davidson.

This company is a family owned company that started in 1952 and is totally committed to the community that they are a part of.

They support Special Olympics, Youth Sports Groups and their employees started a program called "For the Kidz" which had donated millions to needy children.

Let our Prince George community give a hearty welcome to our newest business "Sheetz"

To all Virginia Residents from the Department of Forestry:

Virginia's 4:00 p.m. Burning Law goes into effect on February 15.

Briefly, the 4:00 p.m. Burning Law states from February 15 through April 30 of each year, no burning before 4:00 p.m. is permitted, if the fire is in, or within 300 feet of, woodland, brushland or fields containing dry grass or other flammable material.

Since forest fuels cure during the winter months, the danger of fire is higher in early spring than in summer when the forest and grasses are green with new growth. The 4:00 p.m. Burning Law is an effective tool in the prevention of forest fires. Localities may have more restrictive outdoor burning laws.

You can read the full text of the law § 10.1-1142 on our website.

Debris burning continues to be the leading cause of forest fires in Virginia. The 4:00 p.m. Burning Law is different from the burning bans, which are invoked only during periods of extreme fire danger.

For more information and complete copies of the law, please contact your local VDOF office.
