Statement On the Violence and Killings Perpetrated By ICE and Border Patrol
The Dobbs Ferry Democratic Committee strongly condemns the ongoing harassment, intimidation, and unlawful deadly violence carried out by ICE & Border Patrol in communities across this country, including here in New York.
These Federal Agents have repeatedly targeted immigrants through aggressive raids, surveillance, and street arrests that tear families apart and spread fear. People are being detained without clear identification, taken without explanation, and denied basic due process. Now these masked thugs are murdering citizens in cold blood simply for exercising their right to peacefully protest while the Trump administration gaslights and blames the victims. This cannot stand.
We call on Congress use all the tools at their disposal to halt further funding for ICE until – at minimum – meaningful, enforceable reforms are implemented. We also urge our state and local leaders to fast track passage of the New York 4 All Act to protect residents, refuse cooperation with abusive enforcement practices and uphold dignity, due process, and human rights for all.
We stand with immigrant communities, the people of Minnesota and across the county and demand an immediate end to ICE’s harassment, extrajudicial detentions and the killing of innocent protesters. Our communities deserve safety without fear — and justice without exception.
The violence must stop — now.

INVITATION TO APPLY FOR ENDORSEMENT

As 2025 comes to a close, it is time to begin preparing for next year’s Dobbs Ferry village election. In 2026, three Village Trustee seats will be on the ballot. Trustee Jessica Bloom Galen, Trustee Laura Rothrock, and Trustee Dr. Nitin Gupta (recently appointed to fill the new Mayor’s seat), have all announced their plans to seek re-election.

The Dobbs Ferry Democratic Committee invites qualified and community-minded resident to apply for the Committee’s endorsement to run for Trustee. Interested candidates should submit a letter of introduction and a résumé to [email protected] by January 2, 2026.

Applicants who meet eligibility requirements will be invited to interview with the Committee at our January 15th candidate forum. During this session, prospective candidates will have the opportunity to share their Democratic values, community priorities, and vision for serving the village. In the weeks that follow, Committee members will meet to determine which candidate(s) to endorse for election or re-election.

An endorsement from the Dobbs Ferry Democratic Committee identifies the candidates whom Committee members will carry designating petitions for and support throughout the June primary and/or November general election.

We remain committed to a transparent and thoughtful endorsement process that advances our shared goals and elevates the most qualified and dedicated individuals to serve as Dobbs Ferry Village Trustees. Any resident eager to contribute to the continued betterment of our community is encouraged to consider seeking the Committee’s support.
