Mission: To encourage community involvement in fighting crime in Dodge City, Kansas

Great work done by all.
09/25/2019

Great work done by all.

On 9-23-2019 the Dodge City Police Department, along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Ford County Sheriff's Office, Department of Homeland Security, Kansas Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, The Kansas Highway Patrol, and The Kansas Department of Revenue concluded a lengthy investigation involving the alleged distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine in the Dodge City area.

Early Monday morning the agencies listed above served two federal search warrants in Dodge City and arrested Danny Del Real of Import Automotive. Del Real had a federal arrest warrant alleging six counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation was a year-long group effort by the agencies involved. Without the cooperation of all involved, the operation would not have been possible. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Gray County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the two search warrants as well.

On 9-25-2019 the Dodge City Police Department and the Ford County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on a second suspect in the above case. Pete Avila was arrested on state charges alleging Distribution of Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Acts Involving Proceeds derived from a Drug Transaction. Avila was booked into Ford County Jail.

We greatly appreciate the assistance from each of the agencies, many of which invested countless working hours and financial support in helping us make this case successful. As with any criminal case, please remember that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are pending.

Deadly blue 'Mexican oxy' pills take toll on US Southwest

Recently Fentanyl was seized in Dodge City. Fentanyl has become a large problem in other parts of the country as drug traffickers are selling to opiate addicts who are looking for a more powerful high. Fentanyl is a powerful opiate that is normally used to treat extreme pain in cancer patients but can be lethal in very small doses. Like many drugs that are used for valid medical reasons this drug is now being sold on the streets of our cities nationwide. Fentanyl is sometimes in the form of tablets that are intentionally made to look like Oxycodone tablets like you would buy from your local pharmacy with a doctor’s prescription. This can be extremely lethal to anyone who is taking oxy pills they did not purchase at a legitimate pharmacy. The user could take the tablet thinking they are ingesting a regular oxycodone when in fact they are taking the much stronger drug fentanyl. The confirmed fentanyl tablets we have seen are impossible to tell with the naked eye that the tablet is fentanyl vs. oxycodone. The link below is to a news story about these pills.
