Last week, VietAID joined fellow grantees alongside Mayor Wu, the Mayor’s Office of Housing, and the Neighborhood Housing Trust to celebrate our recent funding awards! 🏡

Gambling Disorder Screening Day is an annual event held during Problem Gambling Awareness Month. Established in 2014 by the Division on Addiction at Cambridge Health Alliance, this international initiative raises awareness about the harms of problem gambling and encourages people to complete a brief screening.

At VietAID, we are proud to support this effort by sharing information, resources, and screening opportunities with members of our community. By taking a few minutes to complete a screening, community members can learn more about their relationship with gambling and connect with support if needed. Last year, we were able to screen over 70+ participants. That’s a 150% increase in members interested in getting screened than our previous year!!

If you are curious about what resources are available for you or someone you know relating to Problem Gambling, please come by the community center and get screened.

Ngày Xét nghiệm xem có bị mê Cờ bạc là sự kiện được tổ chức hàng năm trong Tháng Nhận thức về Tệ nạn Cờ bạc. Được Phòng Nghiện của Liên minh Y tế Cambridge thành lập từ năm 2014, sáng kiến quốc tế này nâng cao nhận thức về tác hại của tệ nạn cờ bạc và khuyến khích mọi người nên hoàn tất một xét nghiệm ngắn.

Tại cơ quan VietAID, chúng tôi luôn hỗ trợ nỗ lực này bằng cách chia sẻ thông tin, giới thiệu nguồn lực và tạo cơ hội xét nghiệm cho mọi người trong cộng đồng. Chỉ cần dành vài phút để hoàn tất một bài xét nghiệm, mỗi người trong cộng đồng đều có thể tìm hiểu thêm về mối quan hệ của họ với tệ nạn cờ bạc và nếu cần sẽ kết nối với nguồn hỗ trợ. Năm ngoái, chúng tôi đã xét nghiệm được hơn 70 người tham gia. Đó là mức tăng gấp 150% số thành viên quan tâm tự nguyện xét nghiệm so với năm trước!!

Nếu quý vị muốn biết thêm chi tiết về các nguồn lực có thể sử dụng cho chính mình hoặc cho bất cứ người nào quen biết bị dính dáng đến Tệ nạn Cờ bạc, mời đến trung tâm cộng đồng và tham gia xét nghiệm.

Curious about how VietAID is helping expand affordable housing in our community? 🏡

Here are a few recent highlights from our housing development work:
• VietAID was awarded 10 MRVP vouchers for the 1392 House / 19–21 Faulkner St refinancing project. While we do serve individuals experiencing homelessness, these units are not restricted to homeless residents, unlike what is stated in the state press release: https://www.mass.gov/news/healey-driscoll-administration-announces-182-million-for-1245-new-rental-homes
• VietAID also received $410,000 in Brownfields Redevelopment funds to support our Hamilton at Mount Everett (HME) project: https://www.mass.gov/news/healey-driscoll-administration-announces-65-million-to-assess-clean-up-brownfields
• In August, VietAID was approved for CEDAC funds to support predevelopment work for 1392 House / 19–21 Faulkner St.
• Once projects currently in our pipeline are completed, VietAID will surpass 200 housing units developed—a major milestone for our organization.
• 1392 House, one of our current projects, was originally built in the 1800s, reflecting our commitment to preserving and revitalizing historic community spaces.
• We are also working to develop 190 Bowdoin, located across the street from another VietAID project at 191–195 Bowdoin: https://www.boston.gov/buildinghousing/191-195-bowdoin-street
