The primary goal of this outreach isā€”and always will beā€”meeting community members where they are. If you or a loved one are in search of treatment and recovery options, we offer immediate placement into treatment if you are ready.
šŸ”„ Why this particular Saturday is a BIG day for me:
Since this outreach started, my personal mission has been bringing awareness to low-income programs like Weatherization & Furnace Repair/Replacement.
Over the last year, Iā€™ve mostly interacted with the organizations attending. Tomorrow, I am finally making the plunge to start interacting directly with youā€”the community members who come by for help!

We are looking for a vendor that distributes the free LifeLine Government phones to attend the upcoming You Are Not Alone Outreach in Beckley on Saturday June 20th.

The organizations that volunteer and offer assistance to community members need a way to contact clients and community members need to have a way to make phone calls when seeking assistance!

The outreach will take place on Saturday, June 20, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will be located in the Kroger and Padrinoā€™s Italian Restaurant parking lots at Beckley Crossing, as well as a portion of the Golden Corral parking lot on N. Eisenhower Drive.

Meet the Repair and Replacement Program (RRP. Sometimes referred to as the Emergency Repair and Replacement Program (ERRP) in some counties).

I personally have been awarded this grant program assistance through Case WV and now have a brand new TRANE branded Heat & Air system.

I have also successfully assisted connecting countless people in countless counties with varying aspects of applying for this program and personally know 2 people that have shared their success stories with me in regards to getting a system installed in their home as well.

šŸ“¢ UTILITY ADVOCACY UPDATE: Helping Low-Income Households Navigate Rising Costs

Rising utility bills are a massive burden across the Southern West Virginia Coalfields right now. Today, I want to share exactly how The Coalfields Everyday Support Network is going to tackle this issue moving forward.

This mission comes from personal experience. As a low-income, permanently disabled homeowner with a 1,200 sq. ft. house, I have successfully utilized the Weatherization grant program, the AEP Home Performance program, LIEAP, and the 20% Utility Discount program. By combining these with my Medicare OTC health benefits, my monthly out-of-pocket electric costs rarely exceed $100-150, with a winter peak of $341 and a current season peak of $107 (BEFORE utilizing my OTC benefits which are about $200 per month).

These programs work, but they are often underutilized because people don't know they exist. My goal is to change that by bringing direct awareness and connection to these exact resources for qualifying households.

Our Phased Rollout Plan:
We will be releasing comprehensive county-specific resource packets one county at a time to keep the information highly localized. The rollout order will be:

Raleigh County & Boone then Wyoming & McDowell
(Other Coalfields counties will follow as the project progresses).

What the Packets & Page Will Feature:

Complete navigation guides for Weatherization, Furnace programs, and utility discounts.

Practical energy-saving tips and instructions on how to file formal utility complaints.

Ongoing distribution of the WV Utility Impact Project surveys via paper copies at all physical outreach events.

Please Note: As a reminder, this network is entirely independent and run by a single individual. I am not backed by any agency or organization; this work is self-funded and completed as my physical and mental health allows. Thank you for your patience as these packets are meticulously built.
