๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ MONDAY QUESTION: WHY DO YOU VOTE? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Voting is more than filling in a circle on a ballot โ€” for each of us, thereโ€™s a reason behind it. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Maybe you vote because of your children and grandchildren.
Maybe itโ€™s because of the issues that matter most to your family.
Maybe you want a voice in the future of your community.
Or maybe you simply believe exercising your right to vote is one of the most important responsibilities we have as Americans. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๐Ÿ˜ Today, we want to hear from YOU:

Why do you vote?

Finish this sentence in the comments:

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ โ€œI vote because __________.โ€

Weโ€™d love to hear what inspires our Houston County community to get involved and make their voices heard!

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ FRIDAY HISTORY ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
Women Who Made History

Did you know the first woman ever elected to the United States Congress was a Republican?

In 1916, Jeannette Rankin of Montana made history when she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives โ€” four years before the 19th Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote nationwide.

When she entered Congress in 1917, Rankin famously said:

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ โ€œI may be the first woman member of Congress, but I wonโ€™t be the last.โ€

And she certainly wasnโ€™t. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

More than a century later, women across America continue to serve, lead, run for office, volunteer, and make their voices heard at every level of government.

Knowing our history helps us understand how far weโ€™ve come โ€” and inspires us for the future.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ WHATโ€™S HAPPENING IN ALABAMA POLITICS? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

2026 is shaping up to be an important election year for Alabama โ€” and now is the time to start paying attention.

Alabama voters will head to the polls on November 3 to decide races that will help determine the leadership and direction of our state and nation.

Among the offices on the ballot are:

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Governor
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ U.S. Senate
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ U.S. House
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ Alabama Legislature
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ State and local offices

Regardless of how busy life gets, we believe informed citizens make stronger communities.

Take time to learn about the candidates. Understand the issues. Talk with your family and neighbors. And when Election Day arrives โ€” make your voice heard. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ THURSDAY THOUGHT โ€” GET INVOLVED LOCALLY! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Itโ€™s easy to pay attention to whatโ€™s happening in Washington, D.C., but some of the decisions that affect our families the most happen much closer to home.

Your city, county, school board, state legislature, and local organizations all play an important role in the future of our community.

Thatโ€™s why getting involved matters. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Attend a meeting.
Learn who represents you.
Support local candidates and causes you believe in.
Volunteer.
Bring a friend.
And most importantly โ€” stay informed and VOTE! ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

The Houston County Republican Women are proud to bring together women who want to learn, serve, become more involved, and make a difference right here in our community.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Strong communities start with involved citizens.

We had such a lovely evening in Dothan welcoming Senator Tommy Tuberville and showing our support as he looks toward becoming Alabamaโ€™s next Governor!

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces come together, and Iโ€™m excited about what the future holds for Alabama. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ WOMEN WHO LEAD WEDNESDAY ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
๐ŸŒŸ Spotlight: U.S. Senator Katie Britt

This weekโ€™s Women Who Lead Wednesday has an extra-special connection to those of us here in the Wiregrass!

Katie Britt was born and raised right here in Enterprise, Alabama. She grew up outside the gates of Fort Rucker, now Fort Novosel, as the daughter of two small business owners and graduated from Enterprise High School.

From her beginnings in the Wiregrass, she went on to make Alabama history. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Did You Know?

โญ In 2022, Katie Britt became the first woman elected to represent Alabama in the United States Senate.

โญ When she took office in 2023, she became the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate.

โญ She earned both her undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Alabama.

โญ Before becoming a senator, she served as Chief of Staff to longtime Alabama Senator Richard Shelby and later became the first female President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama.

โญ Today, Senator Britt serves on several major Senate committees, including Appropriations, Judiciary, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Rules and Administration.

From Enterprise and the Wiregrass to the United States Senate, Senator Brittโ€™s story is a reminder that women from our own communities can step forward, lead and make history.

โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™ Through our Women Who Lead Wednesday series, weโ€™re proud to highlight Republican women whose leadership, service and accomplishments have made an impact on Alabama and America.
