On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the City of Douglas made a land donation, around North Madison Avenue Park, to the Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority to help fill local housing needs for victims of Hurricane Helene and to support workforce housing. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority officially deeded the donated property to The Hope Initiative at a closing, which was held at Mr. Jerome Adams' Law Office. The Hope Initiative plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed eight homes to be constructed on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority (LBA) presented Hope for Coffee with a $2,500 donation towards Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in Coffee County earlier in April 2025. The donation will support local efforts in response to the devastating effects of the storm in Douglas and Coffee County. The donation will provide essential materials and resources needed throughout Coffee County.

The Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority (LBA) Committee proudly welcomed Wes Lott as its newest member on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Wes was appointed by the Coffee County Board of Education. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and brings a wealth of expertise in banking, finance, and business management to the committee. We are thrilled to have him on board! The Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority held a closing for the property located at 409 S. Chester Avenue with Glorisa Vaughn on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Vaughn hopes to rehabilitate the land and property next door to provide one-bedroom housing to citizens in Douglas. The form may be downloaded from the website, www.cityofdouglasga.gov/LBA and submitted via email to [email protected] or mailed to the Community Development Office, ATTN: Alyssa Fussell, City Hall, 302 S. Madison Avenue in a sealed envelope plainly marked “LBA PROPERTY MAINTENANCE PROPOSAL.” Further documentation may be requested at the discretion of members of the Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank Authority. Submission of a Vendor Accreditation Form does not guarantee that the individual or entity will be approved or hired to provide goods and/or services.
