I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to attend Commissioner Alcaraz’s meeting and was reminded of the proud history of the United States as a republic. One of the great strengths of our system of government is that citizens have the ability to participate directly—by attending public meetings, remaining informed, and making their voices heard. We should never take for granted the privilege of living in a republic where every citizen has the opportunity to influence the direction of government.

Behind the Bench:
Public service has taken many forms in our family. My wife, Brenda, has spent her career serving the people of Douglas County as a local pharmacist, and through her work at Premier Drugstore, she has cared for generations of families in our community. Her compassion, dedication, and steady presence have made a real difference in the lives of so many. I have always been proud of the way she serves Douglas County each and every day.

Had a great time at the Spring Festival hosted by the Douglasville Police Department. It was a pleasure seeing so many members of our community and catching up with Chief Gary Sparks, who I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working alongside for nearly 30 years. I always enjoy attending events like this and look forward to continuing to be part of them.

Behind the Bench:
Before I was Judge Kiger to many in Douglas County, I was simply Dad at home.
Some of my favorite memories are of my children trick-or-treating at the courthouse on Halloween and spending time in my old office as kids.
Douglas County is where I built my career, but more importantly, it’s where I raised my family.
Serving this community has always been personal to me.

Honored and deeply grateful to be appointed as Superior Court Judge. After 28 years of serving our community in the Public Defender’s Office, it is a privilege to continue that service from the bench. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the swearing-in ceremony—your support means so much. I look forward to serving the citizens of Douglas County with integrity, fairness, and dedication.
