Showers taper off this evening, with on-and-off thunderstorms developing late tonight and continuing through Monday. During the afternoon Sunday & Monday, isolated storms may produce small hail/gusty winds. Heat index values reach the upper 90s by Tuesday.

2026 Wisconsin Tornado Count Update: NWS Green Bay updated some information from the 7/20 and 7/27 tornadoes. An EF-U was added in Marathon county from storm chaser video. The EF-U in Marathon County was upped to an EF-0 due to damage found at the WI Farm Tech Days. The path info from the 7-27 EF-3 was updated as well. NWS Milwaukee added an EF-0 in Washington county from storms on 8/18. The 48 documented tornadoes occurring in Wisconsin this year make it the 2nd most on record going back to 1950 with 2005 (62) being first. 4 EF-3s, 2 EF-2s, 21 EF1s, 18 EF0s and 3 EF Unknown (U) level tornadoes have been documented across the state. On average, Wisconsin has 23 tornadoes that occur throughout the full year. https://www.weather.gov/mkx/wisconsintornadoes

A High Swim Risk is in effect for Tuesday afternoon and evening for the Lake Michigan beaches in Sheboygan County. This is due to persistent and gusty south winds bringing building waves to this area. Stay out of the water during this period, and away from dangerous areas like piers and break walls. A Moderate Swim Risk for the Lake Michigan beaches in Ozaukee County is also expected during this period.

An isolated storm may still become severe tonight, but generally expecting the main threat to be lightning in central and far southern Wisconsin. If a storm does become severe, expecting damaging winds and hail to be the main threat. Storms will dissipate after sunset between 8 and 9 PM.

A strong storm with a history of funnel clouds will progress southeastward through southwestern WI this afternoon. Additional developing storms to the northwest of Sauk County are also capable of this activity. Damaging winds are likely, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out!
