The 9-1-1 Center has received numerous calls this evening regarding a haze and electrical odor in the air throughout various locations County-wide.

In consultation with the National Weather Service, they have confirmed that this condition is caused by smoke particles drifting south from the wildfires currently in Nova Scotia, Canada, along with easterly winds off the ocean.

There is no environmental hazard regarding air quality, but they expect this condition to persist overnight and into tomorrow, Tuesday, 5/30, or until the winds shift.

Recently President DiNunzio presented Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute with a check for $5,000.00. The CCFCA is proud to support GFAC and its rehab unit, a vital piece of firefighter wellbeing.

THANK YOU to President DiNunzio and the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association for their donation to support Good Fellowship’s emergency incident rehab program. Our Rehab Unit’s success is only made possible by the support from this association and others in the region.

——————-

About the program: Formed in 2010, the Rehab Unit responds to large incidents throughout the region to ensure the health and safety of first responders.

First responders are at risk of suffering adverse effects from stress or from exposure to heat, cold, or hazardous environments. During the rehab process, the temperature of the person is monitored while they hydrate. Their vital signs are monitored and they are assessed for any illness or injury. According to the United Sates Fire Administration, almost half of on-duty firefighter deaths are cardiac related. Through the process of rehab, it is our main goal to identify first responders with abnormal vital signs or complaints, potentially preventing a cardiac death after intense physical activity during an emergency.

All,

A member of Goshen Fire Company lost his father in a tragic accident, and the burden of the funeral fell on him; below is his story. Please consider sharing and donating.

Gerry

In the early morning hours of July 28, 2021, Jeff Heilmann, 61, father to his two children JP and Amanda Heilmann, was tragically killed in an automobile accident on the PA Turnpike.

Jeff loved local politics, basketball, and anything Villanova sports-related, but his greatest love was his two children, Amanda and JP.

His untimely and unexpected death has left a significant financial burden on his family. Goshen Fire Company would like to spearhead the efforts to collect any donations you see fit to aid in the Heilmann family's hardships. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and sharing this campaign will hopefully aid in achieving our goal.

JP (21) is an active firefighter with Goshen Fire Company, and his selfless contributions are felt by both the fire company and the community he serves. A loyal East Goshen Township employee and a landscaping entrepreneur, JP is now faced with navigating life without his greatest supporter, his father, Jeff Heilmann.

Amanda (19), a second-year student at JMU, is a hard-working student and enjoys sports, field hockey in particular. She is a valued employee at Firepoint Grill in Newtown Square while pursuing her higher education.

Their loss is unimaginable, and 100% of the donations received will be directly distributed to the Heilmann family.

To our amazing Chester County Department of Emergency Services Telecommunicators:

On behalf of the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association, the Chester County EMS Council, The Chester County Fire Police Association, Chester County FOP Lodge #11, and the Chester County Police Chiefs Association we would like to thank you all for all the hard work you do every day but now more than ever for your outstanding work during these hard and very trying times.

In appreciation for all of your hard work all year long as our first rung of defense, for national telecommunicator week, all five Associations teamed up and purchased dinners for all four platoons.

The platoons at the Training center are getting their meals on 4/20 and 4/24, from Harry's Hot dogs. They are getting a hoagie tray, hot dog and hamburger tray, potato salad, mac and cheese, and drinks. The meals are coming at about 1930 hours.

The platoons at the GSC are getting their meals on 4/18 and 4/22, from Limenceollo and Dominos. Limoncello is sending 18 chicken parm meals and pizza and drinks from Dominos. The meals are coming at about 2000 hours.

Today, the Special Events Committee made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Golf Tournament. The Committee will return all checks sent to the Association for foursomes and sponsorships.

I know this was difficult for the Committee, but I fully support their decision. Work is underway for the 2021 date.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]

Please keep you and your family safe.

Stay well,

Gerry

Good Will Fire Company #2 of West Chester

We mourn the loss of Past President Robert Hoof Doan. His leadership and dedication to the Chester County Fire Service was unmatched as he set the bar for those that served with him and those that followed in his footsteps. Our thoughts are with “Hoofy’s” friends and family during this tough time.

Robert "Hoofy" Doan, a member of the Good Will Fire Co. since 1972, passed away this morning from Pancreatic Cancer.

Hoofy was a major part of making the West Chester Fire Department what it is today. Hoof served as Assistant Chief of the WC Fire Department and as President and Vice President of the Chester County Fire Chiefs Association. He was a Fire Marshal and had held multiple other Executive Board positions throughout Chester County. One of Hoofy's most significant accomplishments was his tireless work to bring the Chester County Public Safety Training Facility into being. Hoofy has always been the ultimate volunteer. Whenever an extra set of hands was needed, no matter the cause, he was there. We will always hold memories of Hoofy at Breakfast with Santa for our volunteers, at WCFD banquets, and the Chili Cook-off, in our hearts and minds... remembering his playful irreverence as well as his give-you-the shirt-off-his-back attitude. Hoof's family was by his side as he passed away this morning, never to be forgotten by so many of us who had the honor to have known him.

Rest in Peace, Hoofy.
Love, your Good Will family

President DiNunzio was in attendance representing the Fire Chiefs Association as well as representatives from the Chester County EMS Council, Inc. and the Chester County Fire Police Association. We appreciate the support of the County Commissioners who make public safety a priority in Chester County.

County Commissioner Michelle Kichline, Commissioner Kathi Cozzone and Terence Farrell presented a proclamation recently to Chester County Emergency Services staff for Fire Prevention Week (Oct 6-12). The proclamation recognizes the life-saving efforts of Chester County’s firefighters and their auxiliaries, whose unselfish service truly makes our community a better place to live. The Chester County Commissioners encourage all residents to learn more about fire prevention and to support their local fire service organizations.
