Good Morning DPG, check out this announcement from the DGM!

Dugway Team -We are excited to announce a great event that will be taking place on 06 October 2022. COL Hoffman has invited us to join him for hike to Raiders Ridge.

Due to our extensive testing activities, we don’t often get the opportunity to hike in this area. So don’t miss the chance to summit.

Come and enjoy the sunrise from a beautiful spot. I am certain the sunrise will be spectacular with amazing views.

Meet us in front of the DoO building at 0500 hrs. Bring your water, some good hiking shoes and enjoy the fun.

Note that COL Hoffman was kind enough to offer this on a duty day. What a great start a autumn weekend! See you there!

Let’s give some recognition to our very own Dugway Schools for being recognized as a Purple Heart School. Helping to keep the transitions for our military kids as smooth as possible! Way to go! 💜💪

USBE is excited to recognize this year’s class of Purple Star Schools. Northridge Knights, Legacy Jr. High School, South Clearfield Elementary, Wasatch Elementary, Leadership Learning Academy, and Dugway Schools have all met Utah’s requirements for the distinction. These schools go above and beyond to make sure military families are welcomed when they’re transferred into the state.

It is important to remember that Domestic Violence has the potential to occur in all relationships. Race, and gender of couples does not change that reality. Be aware...and always seek help. It is important to recognize that there are usually warning signs and changes in verbal and physical behaviors that begin before Domestic Violence occurs. For prevention and education matters, please contact the DPG Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program. While we are in tele-work status, the number to call 24/7 is 435-849-1238.
Army Community Service Dugway Proving Ground Utah
All...In the past, we have held community events that were we think fun and a good time for all that attended with the intent to bring the community together, to share our community love and camaraderie, and...to promote awareness of a very real problem that happens in most communities across the country. When most people think about "domestic violence" (similar to when the they think of child abuse or neglect) they most often think of the violent extremes. Domestic abuse often never reaches the point of violence and so many people make allowances for abusive behavior because...well...it could be worse. The reality is that like most things, domestic abuse is a spectrum...and all of it is bad. If you have concerns, for yourself, for a neighbor, for a family member...please seek help. The Army programs that are in place are designed to help, to be proactive, to be supportive. Its always better to prevent the violent extremes that often follow the escalating patterns of verbal and emotional abuse than to deal with the all too common next steps. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.militaryonesource.mil%2FUnited-to-End-Domestic-Abuse%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR1070YbEe9KchiYOmmeB2xHlcNQRKyH6dWhVm0YFeFrwwsbBM_L-gLk5js&h=AT2Hka0MeqWiwFzYxfpw7z0Rj_0UpAI5HY4jH12Z7FfNNeU_OzIm0ZxKb-6nthL1AVXxm8jvQ1auqIGAmBEQywe-84KOmqfRoQA11bmV5dt_j71dS75wCl_9HLEFBrCRvFT0cMpNM-poPmVpCQ&__tn__=-UK-y-R&c[0]=AT1ImabXCmSCKJtVrC0y1HyCm3nyW7AQvAGpRN3xYtbjB7onDdpAkBJ6x0oLQLAtBe2shV14uVv9r4pMPfFaVtYLMoOG2EUvj1D7lDaucWwqrupWovL6Bs-LKxRZ9Sxm3lJ_vGR-FRp9X5W7YXqjRSXEYOx1cUWwuQaMFeTNZzIbW8LZjbWgljEWfJIM6lnG-sTiub_SsFDFHvJpn2DJVCnZyA22l6KyDFOxiA_mh7bzLc-m5GwCmaZXjEVzb3fVp_feS86S

Hi everyone. I hope things are going well for you and your families. These are interesting times…trying, challenging, but also a time that present’s opportunities to grow both individually and as a family.
We have asked people for some of the things that have been helpful in both the development of their individual self and in drawing closer as a family as well as what some of the challenges are that they have faced. Her have been some of the responses.
Take long walks together. With the limited opportunities for social engagement its easy to feel trapped in your home. Getting out of the house and going for walks does so many great things. Aside from the obvious value of exercise, the benefit of fresh air and exposure to the sunshine is invaluable. Plus it gives you a chance to do things together as a couple and as a family.
A variable on that has been that one spouse may take the kids for long walks or bike rides and give the other spouse a bit of a break…some me time…time to read a book, take a quiet bath, watch a movie in peace…for some people just a little break each week is tremendous.
Play games together. These can be outside games like frisbee or catch, you can dust off the badminton or croquet sets…things that we used to do but because of our busy schedules seem to have less and less time for.
Some have expressed value in taking additional time to explore their spiritual beliefs. Spirituality is one of the Army’s identified Pillars of Wellness. Spirituality can mean different things to different people and if it is an important part of your life, taking time to ponder, pray, study, have meaningful discussions…all of these things have been beneficial to some of those that responded.
On that note…while its easy to feel isolated and alone during this time, there ARE other social avenues that can be explored. Text chats, social media video group chats are becoming more popular, we have even seen an increase in scheduled weekly family gatherings via the numerous video chat platforms. The Post Chaplain has been hosting services live. We have seen an increase in video counseling services as well.
Take online classes. There are some great free online resources available that people have used to help build their sense of self. One of these courses offered is "The science of well being". “It has taught me ways to improve my happiness and be active in my own and others well being.” The course can be found at https://www.coursera.org/learn/the-science-of-well-being
Which brings us to some of the thing that also been somewhat of a blessing and that has been the introduction of the many free virtual services available online. There are many online services that offer free virtual tours of museums, Broadway plays, zoos, high adventures, even virtual rides through theme parks. These are just a few.

There are many other stories to tell and ways that people pass their time successfully…what are your stories?
Every Saturday at noon our Dugway Proving Ground Family and MWR does a Drive-By Flash Mob, blasting music as they drive around the neighborhoods, encouraging residents to , get outside and dance!
