Respect the Elders. We have no idea who they were before we knew them.

One day our health will deteriorate, our body will get weak but the respect, care and compassion that we show to others now will be shown to us.

Take care of your Sick Elders.

Working in a Memory Care Home really is heartbreaking, yet very rewarding as well. I've never cried or laughed as hard as I have with my family here! I love all 3 with my whole heart!

The Neurologist said that dementia / Alzheimer should be called " brain failure," because the other names are diffuse and do not show the severity of the disease to most people. As the patient's brain dies slowly, you know they've changed physically, and carers are often in shock!! Patients end up in bed, they can't move, and they can't eat or drink. But it's the different stages in advance that are so painful. The day you suddenly forget how to dress, and get confused or combative when you try to fix your shirt, or your pants, they've turned upside down. When you ask repeatedly where your life partner is while looking directly at her. When they are confused, angry, or scared, because they are still partially aware of who they were, yet they are no longer...
There will be people who move through this message because dementia / Alzheimer has not touched them. They don't know what it's like to fight or have a beloved who leads a battle against dementia / Alzheimer's.
For all the men and women I know, I ask for a small favor. If you know someone who has LED a battle against dementia / Alzheimer's, still fighting or what happened, please add this to your status for an hour as a brand of respect and remember... copy and paste in support of victims and Families affected by dementia and Alzheimer's, as there is no cure.
