At our last City Council meeting, I presented my Mayor's Message on the proposed 2027-2028 biennial budget, along with the preliminary budget for the next two years. Developing a responsible budget means balancing the needs of our community with rising costs, limited revenue, and our responsibility to use taxpayer dollars wisely. Our focus is on containing costs where we can, finding efficiencies, and maintaining the essential services our residents depend on.

I've shared my full budget message below for those who would like to learn more about the proposed budget, key departmental changes, and the financial considerations shaping our decisions. I encourage residents to take a look, learn more about the decisions ahead, and stay engaged as the City Council works through the budget process.

Public Hearings: Proposed Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Amendments

The City of Duvall is seeking public input on proposed updates to the Comprehensive Plan and amendments to the city’s zoning and design regulations.

Residents are invited to attend the upcoming public hearings and share their feedback.

How to participate:
Community members are encouraged to provide public comment at either or both hearings. Comments may also be submitted in writing to the City Clerk’s office by noon on the day of the hearing.

Thank you to Duvall Troop 745 - Scouts BSA and Packs 568 and 569 for their annual cleanup of the Cherry Valley Pioneer Cemetery at Dougherty Farmstead! Taking care of places like this is about more than keeping them clean. It’s about preserving a piece of our history and remembering those who came before us. I’m grateful to see our young people ensuring these places remain cared for in the years to come.

On Friday I attended a fantastic Mayors Exchange in Richland, hosted by Association of Washington Cities (AWC). Having lived in Central Washington, any chance I get to drive over and catch the morning light on Uptanum Ridge is a welcome one! It was a beautiful drive as always and a great way to start the day before meeting with fellow mayors from across the state.

One of the things I really value about AWC is how they understand the type of opportunities that electeds need to learn and connect with one another. There’s also something really special about gathering with other mayors since we’re the only ones in our own communities doing this particular job! Friday included great panels on economic development, communications, and learning from each other’s experiences.

Every city is different, but we have so much to learn from one another. I always come away from these conversations with new perspectives, ideas to bring back to Duvall, and a reminder we’re all working toward the same goal of making our communities even better places to live. I’m so grateful to AWC for bringing us together and to my fellow mayors for the amazing conversations!

I spent today traveling across the state for an incredible AWC Mayors Exchange (more to come on that soon) but there was no way I was missing the chance to make it back in time to cheer on our Cedarcrest Redwolves! What an incredible season for Redwolves football, cheer, and marching band. I love these traditions that make Duvall so special. Go Redwolves!

‼️Washington State Patrol has issued a Missing Indigenous Person Alert (MIPA) on behalf of King County Sheriff’s Office for missing 17 year old Lorena Willard-Gabel. Lorena is 5’ 4” tall, weighs about 116 lbs, and has auburn hair and brown eyes. She was last seen on October 15, 2026, at around 3:40 p.m. off E North Bend Way in North Bend. At the time, she was wearing a brown hooded jacket and gray sweatpants. If you see her or have any information about where she might be, please call 911 or contact King County Sheriff’s Office at the number below.‼️
