Heads up, Bruett Road!

Paving for the Bruett Road watermain project is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, and work will take place throughout the day.

There will be a one lane closure while crews are paving, so please expect some delays. If you’re able, the easiest way to avoid the work area is to use NE 145th Street or Big Rock Road as an alternate route.

Please slow down, give crews some space, and plan for a little extra time if you’re traveling in the area. Thanks for your patience while we get this project wrapped up!

I had the chance to visit the Evergreen State Fair and see all the incredible work from our Cedarcrest High School FFA students, and WOW! So many ribbons and so much to be proud of. It’s inspiring to see the dedication and hard work these students put into raising their animals. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented Cedarcrest so well!

The fair is still open through September 7th, so there’s still time to go check it all out. Way to represent, Cedarcrest FFA!

We are so happy you are in Duvall Pebble Creek Playhouse!

There are ribbon cuttings, and then there are moments when you look around and realize an idea you carried for so long has actually become a place people walk into.

Last Saturday, Mayor Amy McHenry joined us to officially cut the ribbon on Pebble Creek Playhouse, and I’m still incredibly touched by the kindness and thought she put into welcoming us to Duvall.

When I imagined Pebble Creek, I didn’t just imagine a place for little ones to play. I imagined a place that made early parenthood feel a little less isolating. A place where getting out of the house didn’t require a big plan. Where parents could sit down, exhale, meet someone new, drink their coffee while it’s mostly still warm, and know their children were welcome exactly as they are.

I hoped it could become a place families return to often enough that familiar faces become friends, children grow up together, and eventually Pebble Creek simply feels like part of Duvall.

But you cannot build a community space without a community willing to build it with you.

Mayor McHenry, thank you for showing up for this little business with such genuine enthusiasm and for giving Pebble Creek such a thoughtful welcome.

To our neighboring businesses and everyone who has shared our posts, stopped in, offered advice, collaborated with us, told another parent about us, or simply cheered us on: thank you.

And to every family who has walked through our doors—and especially those who have become members—thank you for believing in this place while it is still becoming.

Every membership means more than a transaction. It means another family has decided this is something worth having here. Your support allows me to keep building the storytimes, classes, gatherings, resources, and everyday moments of connection that I hope will make Pebble Creek a community staple for early parenthood.

But last Saturday, standing beside our mayor while the rain came pouring down, families warm and dry inside, Pebble Creek felt a little less like my idea… and a little more like ours.

Thank you, Duvall.

The first day of school is here! Maybe you’re like the many families I saw this morning sending little ones off for their very first day or like me and waving goodbye to a teenager rushing out the door. No matter the age of your kids, I hope today is filled with excitement and a lot of new beginnings.

Thank you to our teachers, staff, bus drivers, families, and PTAs & PTSAs! You all do so much to make our community such a great place for kids to learn and grow.

Students- be curious, be kind, try something new, and remember you don’t have to have it all figured out on day one. Here’s to a fantastic school year Duvall!

What an incredible Friday night in Duvall! The Duvall Chamber of Commerce Art & Wine Walk is back after a hiatus, and it has a new name: Duvall Art Uncorked & Untapped!

Downtown was buzzing with local artists, small businesses, great food and drink, and so many people out enjoying everything our community has to offer. It was wonderful to see businesses and creatives come together to create such a fun, welcoming evening in the heart of Duvall.

Duvall is such a special place because of our local businesses, local talent, and how neighbors show up for each other. Cheers to bringing this tradition back, and to many more nights like this in Duvall!

I had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting for Pebble Creek Playhouse today, and especially on a rainy day like this, I could see how valuable a welcoming space like this is for families with young children.

My own kids are teenagers now, but I remember those early years well. We regularly found ourselves driving out of town to get out of the house or just break up the day. Having something like this right here in our community is such a gift to local families.

And Norma, the owner, has put an incredible amount of thought into creating a diverse range of programming and experiences for families. I know that when you have young kids, sometimes just finding the energy to get everyone out the door can feel like a lot. But as parents, we also know that sometimes getting out, even when you’re tired, is exactly what you need. It can be a little bit of self-care for you, a great experience for your kids, and a chance to connect with other families in your community.

Congratulations to Norma and the entire Pebble Creek Playhouse team! We’re so lucky to have you in Duvall.
