Friends, as you know I recently withdrew from the CD2 race for the sake of party unity. We DFLers need to unite behind one candidate to turn this seat from Red to Blue in November. That candidate is Angie Craig. I am pleased
to endorse Angie. She is running a top notch campaign and will be a great advocate for CD2 families in Washington. The hyper-partisanship in DC is toxic and the prescription for curing it is to send good people like Angie Craig who will bring Minnesota common sense to our Nation's Capitol.

I had a wonderful time at the CD 2 Mardi Gras event tonight. I'm so thrilled and humbled to receive the endorsement of Mary Lawrence. Her graceful exit from the race and commitment to the DFL party speaks volumes to her character and commitment to electing a DFL'er in November. I look forward to partnering with her to win this race.

Dear Friends, When I entered this race I had two objectives: to restore opportunity to America’s middle-class and to unseat Rep. John Kline. As passionate as I am about enhancing opportunity and strengthening our economy, I am equally steadfast in my belief in the Democratic Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party. At this juncture, it is clear that I would not win the DFL endorsement through the caucus process. While I wholeheartedly believe that I could win the Primary, and go on to win the General, this pursuit would deeply divide and harm our party. That is something that I cannot do in good conscience. I am a Democrat, and I am a physician. I have sworn the Hippocratic Oath: “First, do no harm.” To this end, I have decided to end my campaign.

I remain committed to electing a DFLer to serve the people of Minnesota’s Second District. I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received from people across the District and across the Country. I am also very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented staff and am grateful for their work. I thank the people of the Second District for offering me the opportunity to run for this seat to represent their voices in Washington. Working together, we can elect Democrats up and down the ballot and help Minnesota families get ahead.

Today's historic agreement among almost 200 nations is a turning point in our struggle to avert the deadly effects of climate change. We have to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy. We owe it to our children and grandchildren.

Friends, Remember to tune in to Almanac on Twin Cities Public Television tonight at 7pm to hear me and the other DFL candidates talk about the important issues in the 2016 election.

All three Democratic candidates for Minnesota's District 2 House seat that will be vacated by Rep. John Kline -- Angie Craig, Mary Lawrence and Roger Kittelson -- have been invited to the Almanac studio for a discussion this week. We had Republican candidates on the program in the fall. Tune in Friday at 7 p.m. for the debate.

There is nothing more American than our holiday dedicated to giving thanks. Grateful for our friends and families, for our freedoms and our feasts, we continue a tradition started 395 years ago. That’s why I’m reaching out to tell you Happy Thanksgiving, friend!

Individuals and families have their own traditions. Whether it’s going around the dinner table to express thanks, or getting together with friends for a football game, what matters is that we take some time to be grateful for the individual and collective bounties that we share as Americans. As crazy as life gets, there’s no better way to stay grounded.

As you are enjoying your Holiday, please remember our Service members, especially those deployed in hostile environments, and all the men and women who work on Thanksgiving Day (and every day!) to keep our communities safe and secure.

I want to say thank YOU for keeping me grounded every day with your kind words, your constructive criticisms, and your generosity.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Gratefully,

Mary

Today—Veterans Day--we honor all those who have served in the United States Military. It is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice in 1918 which ended the World War I conflict between Germany and the Allied nations.

Our nation must keep our promises to those who have served. There was no waiting line when many of our Veterans raised their hands to volunteer to go into harm’s way. There should be no waiting line now for our Veterans to obtain the health care and benefits they’ve been promised. I’ve dedicated most of my medical career to caring for Veterans and improving the treatment our Veterans receive in our nation’s VA medical centers.

To our Veterans and their families: THANK YOU for your service. You have given so much to ensure the safety and freedom of the American people. I commit to you that I will continue to fight for the benefits and care you deserve and I will never stop fighting for you, just as you have fought for us.
