Fish of East Aurora

Fish of East Aurora FISH of East Aurora, Inc. is a volunteer, Christian non-profit community organization that provides free services to low income families in the Southtowns.

FISH offers a food pantry, clothing and household items, emergency needs, applications for health insurance and Social Services, toys at Christmas, as well as referrals for employment opportunities, urgent medical care, counseling, transportation, HEAP, smoking cessation, and emergency preparedness guidelines.

This summer, the East Aurora Co-op Market partnered with FISH of East Aurora for their Round Up at the Register Initiative. From June through August, co-op shoppers had the option to support FISH of East Aurora by rounding up their total purchase. Through the co-op community’s generosity, a grand total of $6,013.26 was raised for FISH of East Aurora. The co-op continues to partner with local organizations focused on building a stronger community. Details are available in store, on the co-op website: eastaurora.coop, and on social media.

POSTAL DRIVE FOR FOOD PANTRIES

We would like to thank the citizens of the villages and towns of East Aurora, Elma, Holland, Marilla, Wales, and West Falls for their generosity in contributing to the Annual Letter Carriers’ Postal Drive on May 13, 2023. We would also like to thank the post office letter carriers for all their extra efforts on that day. Thank you again for joining us in the fight to end hunger in our communities.

HUNGER AWARENESS FISH FOOD PANTRY RAFFLE

FISH of East Aurora, Inc. will be holding a raffle fundraiser from November 17, 2022 to January 6, 2023. Only 300 tickets will be sold for $100 each.

1st Prize - $10,000
2nd Prize - $ 3,000
3rd Prize - $ 2,000

Every year, having nutritious food distributed at FISH has been a high priority. FISH purchases eggs, meats, cheese, fruits, and vegetables with our donations. In addition to providing food, FISH also provides clothing, linens, small household items, school supplies, baby supplies, and toys at Christmas.

For those who purchase tickets, a wine, beer, and appetizer reception will be held on January 6, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Winners will be announced at 7:30pm. You do not have to be present to win.

TOY AND GIFT CARD DRIVE FOR
FISH OF EAST AURORA

As we approach the holidays, your local food pantry, FISH of East Aurora, is preparing to provide a Toy Day for our low income families from East Aurora, Elma, Holland, Marilla, and Wales. FISH is in need of new toys for children and gift cards for teens for their Toy Day Distribution on Saturday, December 17th, 2022. All toys and gift cards donated remain in our area.


Toy donations can be brought to the FISH building, 960 E. Main St. East Aurora on any Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturday, December 3rd. Please bring all donations to FISH by Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Please reach out and show your love and concern for those less fortunate in our community. Thanks for your support and in helping others share in the joys of the season!

Christmas Toy Day

Toy Day at FISH gives parents an opportunity to give Christmas toys to their children. This year, we will be having toy day on Saturday, December 18th, 2021. Only registered clients are eligible and all donated toys are given to local families. Gift cards for older children and teens are also greatly appreciated. You can drop off new, unwrapped toys and gift cards on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8 am and 3 pm or on Saturday, December 4th between 10 am and 12 pm. We would appreciate donated toys and gift cards by December 4th.

Thanksgiving and Christmas food distribution dates

FISH will accept donations of small turkeys, chickens, hams, canned fruit, large juice, canned vegetables, stuffing, potatoes (boxed), pasta roni and rice a roni, for both Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions.

On August 24th and 26th, 2021, FISH of East Aurora Inc., will be distributing school supplies/backpacks to FISH children on our client list of low-income families. With an increase in families with school-age children this past year, FISH is anticipating the need for more school supplies and backpacks as children return to school.

FISH is collecting Crayola colored pencils, Crayola washable markers, wide-ruled and college-ruled paper, 7” scissors, highlighters, dry erase markers, marble black and white composition notebooks (wide-ruled), plastic pocket folders, dividers, 2 inch ring binders, post-it notes, pencil boxes and pencil pouches, lined index cards, white glue, Ziploc bags (quart And gallon), large boxes of tissues, and large bottles of hand sanitizer.

Please bring school supply donations by August 4th, 2021 to the FISH building, 960 E. Main St., East Aurora, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Thank you for your support!

**UPDATE**

Our clothing room is re-opening on July 20,2021. We are NOW accepting gently used fall & winter clothing (men's, women's, children's, and infant's) as well as linens and small household items. We DO NOT accept electronics, VCR tapes, shoes, or baby items such as cribs, car seats, or strollers.

FISH is currently experiencing a 30% increase in the number of families we serve from our area. We remain a drive-thru for food distribution on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 3pm. Any help with food or monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. Also, to keep our clients and volunteers safe, our clothing room remains closed.

For the upcoming holidays, FISH will accept any food donations at this time. We are basically low on all food items. Donations of small chickens, small turkeys, hams, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, fruit, vegetables, pasta a roni, rice a roni, cranberry sauce, cake mixes, brownie mixes, jello, pudding, and juice are examples of our holiday needs.

Thanksgiving Food Distribution - Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Thursday, Nov. 19

Christmas Food Distribution - Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 17.

We are also accepting new, unwrapped toys and gift cards for teens for our Toy Day on Dec. 19. We would need all donations by Dec. 10. Toy Day will be a drive thru for those families who are registered with us.

FISH will be closed Dec. 23 to Jan. 1, 2021

Current Information:

*FISH is a food pantry and clothing distribution center serving the towns of East Aurora, Elma, Holland, Marilla, and Wales. If you are from another area, you can access your own town food pantry through FeedMore WNY at 852-1305 or their website. If your pantry is closed due to COVID-19, please let us know and we’ll make exceptions.

The Mobile food pantry, which comes once a month, assists those who are low income and food insecure. You do not have to be a client of the FISH food pantry and you are eligible even if you live in other areas.

*FISH distributes pre-packed food every Tuesday and Thursday between 1-3pm.

*If you are income eligible, you can receive food twice per month. Small families of 1 to 3 people can come on Tuesdays, our small family day. Large families of 4 or more can come on Thursdays, our large family day. Please call ahead (652-7272) if you need to change the day you come.

*Our clothing room remains closed at this time. If you are in need of particular items, one of our volunteers can help look for you.
