The Rural Outreach Center Our mission is to eradicate rural poverty in Western New York. We assist, empower, and elevate our Participants to self-sufficiency.

We provide counseling for adults in grief and loss, trauma, and other mental health issues, as well as play therapy for children experiencing a wide variety of stressors, including trauma, grief and loss, divorce, and difficulties with social interactions. *Amber (name changed to protect privacy) asked if she could learn how to sew on a sewing machine. Her interest started with scrunchies, but it wasn’t long until she asked to make pants and stuffed animals!

Each project Amber completes helps her learn new, valuable life skills that she will be able to use in the future!

Amber’s mentoring sessions not only help her develop some important life skills, they also incorporate math and emotional regulation.

Sara* (name changed to protect privacy) was interested in learning her way around the kitchen so she could make her favorite foods at home. She learned how to read recipes, measure ingredients, and safely operate kitchen appliances.

She kept track of all the recipes she loved and was always happy to share her creations with others!

Sara’s mentoring sessions focused on developing life-skills and math in conjunction with exploring one of her interests!

She is learning important skills that will help her academically, socially, and emotionally - all while having fun!

The ROC is thankful to be one of the organizations West Herr Auto Group and Scott Bieler supported this Thanksgiving! We received more than 160 turkeys to distribute to families this past weekend at the Scott Bieler Family Foundation Rural Outreach Center!
