Public Input Needed for Transportation Funding Priorities
As the Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) continues work on its $1,990,620 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant to develop a modernization of the Transportation Investment Program (TIP) process, we are seeking public input on how the Old Colony Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) should prioritize transportation investments in the region. The FHWA’s Prioritization Process Pilot Program (PPPP), locally branded as the Prioritization and Regional Investment Strategy Model (PRISM), aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in how transportation and capital improvements are identified, evaluated, and implemented across the 17-community Old Colony region. The final model will provide important information to our TIP and Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) process, bringing clarity, predictability, and fairness to regional decision-making.
We Need Your Voice: To ensure this prioritization tool aligns with local goals, we need robust participation from local leaders, planners, and stakeholders. We are launching the PRISM Public Priorities Survey to gather insights on infrastructure challenges, data availability, and community capital priorities.
We will also be holding a virtual Public Meeting on Thursday, September 24th via Zoom from 12:00pm – 2:00pm as an additional opportunity to share your input and learn more about the project!
Why it Matters: This tool determines how federal and state infrastructure funds are channeled into regional projects. If your community's unique priorities are not reflected, we risk missing them. Your feedback directly shapes the model's functionality.
The Survey will open on September 1, 2026, and remain open through October. We encourage you to share this survey with colleagues and neighbors.
Who Should Respond: Anyone who uses the roadway system in the OCPC region! Residents, employees, students, and anyone using roadways where the OCPC region is not your final destination!
