Yesterday, members of our department had the honor of participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run. Officers proudly carried the flame through our community, joining athletes, families, volunteers, and fellow first responders in celebration of the extraordinary spirit and abilities of Special Olympics athletes.

This meaningful event highlights the importance of inclusion, perseverance, and unity. Seeing our officers run alongside these remarkable athletes was a powerful reminder of what community truly means — coming together to support and uplift one another. The energy, smiles, and enthusiasm throughout the run were truly inspiring.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand with the Special Olympics community and help shine a light on the talents and achievements of these outstanding athletes.

A big thank you to every participant, the organizers who made the event possible, and all the community members who lined the route to cheer everyone on‼️

Today, we pause to remember the incredible bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago today.

The courage shown on D-Day changed the course of history and secured the freedoms we protect and cherish today. We owe a debt of gratitude to the veterans who served, those who never made it home, and the families who supported them.

The East Brunswick Police Department stands with our veterans today and every day.

Every year on May 25th, law enforcement agencies, advocacy groups, and communities across the nation observe National Missing Children’s Day. First proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, this day serves as a solemn reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our most vulnerable, to continue the tireless work of reunifying missing children with their families, and to honor those dedicated to this vital mission.

Public safety is a proactive partnership. We encourage parents, guardians, and caregivers to take time today to review critical safety measures:
📸 Keep Updated Records: Ensure you have recent, high-resolution photographs of your children taken from multiple angles, along with accurate height, weight, and identifying descriptions.
💬 Open Lines of Communication: Teach children their full names, addresses, emergency phone numbers, and how to identify safe adults or law enforcement officers if they ever need help.
📱 Digital Awareness: Routinely review your child’s privacy settings on social media, online gaming platforms, and messaging apps. Know who they are communicating with online.
📋 Have a Plan: Establish clear family protocols for crowded public places, school pickups, and emergencies.
Our department remains fully committed to safeguarding our youth and to utilizing every available resource to ensure that every child returns home safely.

If you have any information regarding a missing child or need to report an emergency, please contact law enforcement immediately. For additional safety resources and tools, visit the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at missingkids.org.
