The bridge collapse in Pittsburgh is a wake-up call, and we are fortunate that no one was killed. The sad truth is, with more than 45,000 structurally deficient bridges in America, it could have happened almost anywhere in our country.
This disaster highlights the urgent work we’re doing right now with the Biden–Harris administration to fix our crumbling infrastructure. Union members are ready to get to work modernizing our infrastructure so disasters like this never happen again.
The labor movement thanks all the first responders who heroically rescued people in Pittsburgh today. Together, we will rebuild and create the safe, reliable and modern infrastructure we desperately need.
