Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded the Town of East Hartford the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This award is a testament to our incredible Finance Department staff, overseen by Melissa McCaw!

As many of you may or may not know, our very own Chief of East Hartford Police Department Scott Sansom accepted a job of a Police Chief for the Town of Granby effective Monday, October 23.

With that, I will be appointing Assistant Chief Mack Hawkins as interim chief effective TODAY at 4:30 PM.

Following the election, the newly-elected Mayor will appoint a permanent chief.

It is with mixed emotions that I accepted the news from Chief Sansom, but there is no better candidate to fill his role other than Assistant Chief Hawkins,” said Mayor Mike Walsh. “Having been with the East Hartford Police Department for over a decade, Assistant Chief Hawkins has the knowledge and expertise to oversee the department and continue its success. I thank him for taking on the role of Interim Police Chief and continuing to move our Police Department forward.

Besides a UCONN football game at the stadium, Rotary in Motion is holding their annual bike ride!

I’m waiting for them at Cabela’s, East Hartford’s largest retailer.

And I snapped a few pictures of Faddy’s Donuts located outside of Cabela’s, also an East Hartford original!

I’m taking the 5th against self incrimination as to which I ate - the maple glazed raised donut or the warm cider donut.
