Today, we remember Fiona Arrizza, whose courage, service, and dedication continue to leave a lasting impact on the East Moline community.

Two years ago, we lost a firefighter, teammate, and friend. Fiona’s commitment to protecting others and serving her community will never be forgotten.

As we honor her memory today, we also recognize the sacrifices made by first responders and the enduring legacy they leave behind. Fiona’s spirit continues to inspire those who serve and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Gone, but never forgotten.

The East Moline Fire Department spent time this week with the kids at Merry Sunshine, turning an ordinary day into something memorable and meaningful.

Firefighters talked with students about basic safety, what to do in an emergency, and how to stay calm if they ever need help. They also gave the kids a chance to see the fire truck up close, which was easily the highlight for many.

Moments like this matter. Teaching fire safety early helps build confidence and awareness that can stick with kids for years.

Thank you to the firefighters for taking the time to connect with the community, and to Merry Sunshine for welcoming them in.

We had a great time being part of the Girl Scouts “Journey the World” event in East Moline!

Our team enjoyed meeting so many curious, engaged scouts and sharing what we do at the fire department. From fire safety tips to a closer look at our equipment, it was a fun and meaningful day for everyone involved.

Thank you to the Girl Scouts for inviting us to be part of such a positive event. We’re always proud to support opportunities that help educate and inspire young leaders in our community.

This is no small achievement. It takes discipline, grit, and a real commitment to serving others. You’ve put in the time, pushed through the challenges, and earned this moment.

Your community is stronger because of you. Wishing you all the best as you step into this next chapter and begin serving on the front lines.

Your kindness (and great taste in snacks) made our day at the East Moline Fire and Police Departments. We appreciate the support more than you know—and we’ll be putting those cookies to very good use. 😉
